Does the Church teach that snakes are inheritly evil? and that they are ‘posessed’ by deamons?

This is a very serious qustion. I have a Corn Snake…most peacful kind of snake you can get, and Im honestly just wondering if they are considerd evil because of ‘serpent’.

Snakes are more intimidateing then anything. People dont like them because they dont know them and they are afraid of them. They are an extreemly mis-understood creature. yes they slither, but that just there nature of what they are… yes they eat mice…mine eats live…but i dont see how thats any differnt then an Oscar or a Turtle eating feeder fish…

Im takeing my snake to the pet blessing today

I have never heard the Church proclaim that snakes or any kind of natural animal is/was evil. Remember that Moses rod turned to a snake before pharaoh, and I believe the Jews under the command of Moses built a statue of a snake. So I think it’s safe to say that your snake is not possessed be demons.

I don’t think any animal is inherently evil or good. They are simply animals.

I’m not sure about this-I admit I’m no expert.

No. No. No.

Snakes are simply animals God made to eat bugs and rats. Nothing evil about them.

Today’s Corn snake has nothing to do with the Serpent in the Garden.

Good luck with your snakey. I caught a live corn snake once; let him go after an hour or so.

I used to keep cornsnakes before I entered religious life, and I miss them a great deal. Reptiles make very good pets and are certainly not demonic or evil

I always feel kind of bad when I see statues of Our Lady stamping on a snake. I realise its a symbolic image, but as someone who has looked after snakes it always seems a little harsh!

Cat and dog lovers, imagine your reaction to a statue that showed Our Blessed Mother crushing a Siamese or a Chihuaha. 😉

Quite right, too. I’m sure St Francis would approve of the care you give to your snakey pal.
