So - Black Lives Matter and your Religion/Denomination?

3 Concluding thoughts - and then i have to run to a “microagression/trigger warning” meeting my department is having…

1.) Was this story media-suppressed? I sure as heck didn’t know about this in the same way that I knew about all the white cop incidents.

2.) Following on that, I can’t help but think - if Peter Liang were Caucasian he would be doing jail time. Heck, given the determination of the opposition, he may yet be doing jail time.

3.) toward the end of my incredibly short review of that case, I started seeing something rather interesting - a claim being made that African American’s can’t be racist.

Apparently there’s a bit of a formula to this - Racism requires prejudce and power.

So the logic goes that because African Americans are at the lowest end of the SES scale and are the most at-risk group to be victimized by the system - they cannot be racist. Prejudced against others sure, but racism requires power.

This line of argumentation was used to shrug off the “return fire” coming from the Chinese community.

I find it fascinating…although its the first i’ve ever heard of this particular construction used in such a manner.

Re: #3. Isn’t it racist to say blacks can’t do everything whites can? ISTM that saying blacks can’t be racist is clearly racism against blacks, even if blacks are saying it. Therefore, blacks who claim blacks can’t be racist are being racist against blacks.

So technically your statement should read something like “Isn’t it racist to say blacks can’t do everything Chinese can?”

But to your point, or what I take to be your point, - I’ve got no answers for you.

Because those propping up the idea that African Americans can’t be racist are using a definition of what racism is that clashes with what another person may think.

Although, I do wish i could get more clarification on this I mean…

If i follow the line of logic, then what those who accept this idea are saying in this specific case, is that being Chinese or I guess Asian in general puts you on a higher social tier. So I guess they have more “power” - although i wish someone would define what they mean by “power…”
