So, did your parish have a Corpus Christi Procession?

Our local OF parish did a Procession.

I’m never sure if my photos load or not. Yes! The Canopy was hand made by one of our parish ladies. It is truely a work of art.
 
My parish in the city had a Corpus Christi procession this past Thursday outdoors following a Solemn Mass. This was under the threat of looming rain and storms which gracefully stopped during the homily. Many saw Our Lord and made their reverences kneeling and/or photographing.

The parish also had a procession indoors on Sunday after Vespers and before Benediction.

We did, though it was cold and windy. So windy we could hardly hear the readings at each station. But we sang loudly and flower petals were strewn and incense burned.
 
Yes we had a procession! I made a video and invited people on our (secular) community email list to see what we’ve been up to at our church. (it’s a small mission church in a rural area.) I’m hoping it might bring some non practicing parishioners back…

Yes. 😃 90+ degrees; 3 priests along with the Knights of Columbus were all marching in full costume (sorry, ‘costume’ is probably not the right word, but ‘uniform’ doesn’t seem right either). The First Communicants were requested to wear their communion outfits, but I didn’t see any.

Unfortunately it was pouring rain with severe weather warnings, so they decided to just do a mini-procession indoors this year - although typically we do have one.
 
I don’t think we did. I was late 😊 but I didn’t hear anything about one so I don’t think there was a procession.

No. I’m not sure if we ever had, but to be fair, our pastor, who is the only priest in the parish, has severe knee problems and is awaiting replacement surgery later this month. We don’t have a deacon here either.

It’s something I plan to discuss with Fr. next year.
 
Yes, we had a lovely procession, with the children who had received First Holy communion the previous day. Our PP re-established this tradition a few years back and we walk around the historic Lincoln’s Inn Fields where St Thomas More studied and practiced law, and we stop and pray by a statue of him. We also stop at the site of the Sardinian Embassy chapel, which was our forerunner in the penal days. Our present church was built in 1909 when the area was redeveloped.

We are an OF parish, with lots of traditional practices and a fascinating history.

What reasons are those? My parish held quite a large Eucharistic procession outdoors in the neighborhood, in the same weather as you were in, between your air-conditioned car and the air-conditioned church building. I had a lot of sunblock on and we went through quite a few bottles of cool water, but even the elderly sacristan who is also a choir member attended, and did so joyfully. It wasn’t really bad. It certainly didn’t get past 100 degrees, because it was before 10 in the morning.

We had three priests, one transitional deacon, and a seminarian. We had a large corps of altar servers, Knights of Columbus in regalia, First Communicants, the choir, and a larger group of the faithful than we have ever had. The Knights carried a Eucharistic canopy over the priest with the monstrance. We visited four altars: one in the parking lot, two in private homes, and the last one in the church building. We were led in prayer and song by a new Fourth Degree Knight and his wife, from the Latino community. We sang hymns in English and Spanish and Latin. We prayed the Rosary in English and Spanish. We had Benediction at each altar along the way, and this all culminated in reciting the Divine Praises and repose of the Blessed Sacrament inside the church building. Then we held a solemn Mass in the Ordinary Form at 10:30. The whole choir had rehearsed the Corpus Christi Sequence, albeit in abbreviated form, so we performed it for the assembly.

All in all, it was quite a spectacle for a humble neighborhood parish. I hope we witnessed to many people in our neighborhood as to our faith and the greatest gift of the Eucharist.

Wonderful! You’ve inspired me to suggest we do a more elaborate procession next year.

I especially admire the processions in public areas. My church is in a rural area so not a lot of passers by see it.
 
As far as I know no local churches near me did a procession unless it was at a parish I do not attend or is too far from me. I did find out online that many churches in a different diocese did indeed have processions despite the nearly 90 F Degree weather on Sunday. I just wish I could’ve had the day off work to go to one of them.

Great stories and pictures to all those who shared them here. I will have to book off the Sunday for Corpus Christi much more in advance for next year.
