I understand you! I am a 24-year-old female with no vocation to the marriage, not still confirmed due to schedule problems which didn’t let me finish the regular cathechesis 10 years ago (nevertheless, I hope to begin the preparation for the confirmation next fall), and due to this I still didn’t contact any religious order, secular order or secular institute, but if God calls me to the religious life, I only want orders which are faithful to the Pope and wear the habit and the veil. An advice for you: go to the Institute on Religious Life website (religiouslife.com/) and search your order! All of the affiliated religious orders wear habit. Courage and good luck!

Good luck with your search. Don’t put people in a box. Feminism is not all good; neither is it all bad. Wearing a habit does not automatically make someone loyal to the Pope, and not wearing one (or at least a modified one) does not automatically make one disloyal. In either case, what is most important is that YOU remain loyal to Christ and open to the nuances of his call.

P.S. - I’ve been to a mass where all the priest wore was jeans and a sweatshirt, because it was a private mass and we were in a pinch. The mass was probably irregular (because he was not vested with at least an alb and stole) but it was most certainly valid - he was validly ordained, had the proper faculties, had the correct matter and formula, and intended to do what the Church intends.
It is my understanding that, not wearing a habit automatically makes the ones who do not wear the habit disloyal, as no community has received permission to shed their habits.
Unless someone can correct me on this…

There is a big difference between shedding externals out of a one time necessity, such as the case of this Mass you described, and publically rejecting external expressions of the faith in a spirit of disobedience. This expresses a spirit of obedience to self desire which is wrong and not the type expression of faith that Catholics should endorse.

A lapel pin is not a habit but an outward expression of doing the least as an outward expression of minimal compliance. (Doing the least, to be able to claim that a habit is being worn.)

We must seek to do the most we can for God, not the minimum.

I’m only considering communities that require the wearing of a traditional habit.

I’m looking for an active order that wears a traditional habit.
The Companions of the Cross, based in Ottawa, have recently founded an order of sisters. They wear a black jumper and burgundy veil. I believe they are an active order, but I shall check out more for you if you wish. Unfortunately, I don’t even know what their charism is. PM me if you’re interested.

How about the Daughters of St Paul?

They are very evangelistic and work to spread the Gospel all the time, they wear a habit, actually spend time evangelizing, spreading our faith and educating.

They seem pretty active…

I found this community that I’m very interested in: sisterfaustina.org/
I have a great devotion to the Devine Mercy, so that would be very fitting. My mother had a cyst in her lymph note last year and I started praying the Devine Mercy chaplet for her, and when she went in for a follow up, they couldn’t see anything. It had basically disapeared. So my devotion to the Devine Mercy has really strengthened.
I like the work that this community does. The Prison ministery is something I would be very interested in. I also like what their community in Poland does for young woman.
And they wear a full habit:thumbsup:

They look pretty faithful and spiritually good. Looks like a great order to choose.

Their goal…

Our Goal
'Our goal is to save lost souls, to rescue sinners from eternal loss."

Sounds pretty faithful to the Gospel.

God Bless,
Scylla

The charism of this sisterhood is evangelization.
