So... going to confession

I have not been in about 7 years … I have been contemplating going and always find an excuse! I made an appointment today at 630. I am so nervous I am trying to find an excuse not to go… what if I just go blank… I don’t even remember what to say when I go in what prayer . I guess I can google it … deep breaths …

Praise God for his mercy in bringing you to this place! A number of guides to confession and examinations of conscience can be found on the internet. Ask the priest for help. He’ll walk you through it.

A good prayer: “Holy Spirit, enlighten my mind and soften my heart, so that I can know my sins and be truly sorry for them.”

It’s ok to write them down and take in a list. I do that every time I go, so I don’t forget anything.

Congratulations on doing this confession- I know you will feel so much lighter and freer when you are done!
 
Awesome! As others have said, the priest will be able to walk you through any aspects where your memory is fuzzy.

Asking the Holy Spirit for help is always good. I usually pray “Come Holy Spirit” over and over again. :o

I echo what others have said. The priest will help you through. I would think that knowing how to support someone who hasn’t been to confession for years is an important part of the priestly duties of this sacrament.

Also, it has all the prayers on there, as well as the Rosary. The Rosary will change automatically depending on the day of the week (Sorrowful Mysteries, etc.). The Bible is on there, Stations of the Cross and some other good Catholic tools. I think it is a pretty good app.
 
So i went … I was nervous but the preist was awesome i confessed sins that. Weighed so much for years and we talked … My penance was beautiful i won’t share details but its a saying i have to say every day before i get out of bed what was so amazing is that he said what i need is perserverance ! and thats my online name what a validation to what I’ve been Working on! Thank you all for prayers you all mean so much to me i appreciate it more than you will ever know
