So how many liturgies have you attended?

Hi everyone,

As a Chaldean Catholic, besides my Chaldean liturgy, I’ve attended these ones so far:

Roman (Novus Ordo, and Latin mass)

Greek (Melkite, Ruthenian, Ukrainian, and Romanian)

Antiochene (Maronite, and Syriac)

How about you? 🙂

I would really, really, really, love to attend the Alexandrian and Armenian liturgies.

These are the only two major traditions/patrimonies that I have not yet experienced.

It might be worth it to mention 2 Byzantine liturgies that are not well known.
  1. The Graeco-Slavic liurgy of St. Peter–basically the Byzantine Liturgy with the Roman Canon (Te igitur clementissime Pater) inserted.
  2. The Byzantine Liturgy of St. Mark, which was translated by St. Nectarios and he celebrated on occasion.

Ruthenian

I could have attended a Mozarabic liturgy. I didn’t occur to me at the time. :hypno:

Does “Life Teen” count? I wasn’t sure I was attending a Catholic liturgy. 😦

Ethiopian (looooooooooongest Liturgy I’ve ever experienced, by far)

Later this year our Dominican parish will be have a Dominican-Rite High Mass to celebrate its centenial. I’m very much looking forward to it. 😃

All the same except the Romanians and Syriac.

Ethiopian Orthodox, GOA, OCA, Macedonian,

Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom: in my home parish, and Hierarchical Divine Liturgy; also in Church Slavonic (Ruthenian)

Liturgy of St. Basil the Great (Ruthenian)

Liturgy of the Pre-Sanctified Gifts (Ruthenian)

Novus Ordo (Ordinary Form): licit/reverent, illicit, illicit/possibly invalid, and illicit AND invalid

Tridentine (Extraordinary Form)

I’ll be traveling this summer and hope to get to a Ukrainian Divine Liturgy in Buffalo, NY. I think I’m too far away from any others to have any hope of attending unless a miracle would occur.
 
I’m a Roman Catholic so I have attended the Novus Order and the 1962 Missal.

Also, the Chaldean Liturgy, the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom at both a local Ruthenian parish, and at a Russian Orthodox parish.

Also, the Liturgy of St. Basil at a Coptic Church (Oriental Orthdox)

Oops, forgot…before I was Catholic I went to see the Pope at Laguna Seca, near Salinas, CA. So I guess that was Pontifical Novus Ordo? :doh2:
