this is going to take a while to perfect 😋

Which one did you get? The Baronius Press one? The Angelus Press one?

Or Lasance.

I have that and Angelus. Angelus is way easier to use but the Lasance is very nice and has Holy Week.

Some parishes have permission to use the pre '55 Holy Week liturgy.

Pretty sure this post is going to go over like a lead balloon after adding the 1P5 article. 🤣

Well that’s why it’s not in the Angelus Press one, given that I’d bet money that they (the SSPX) were not given permission unlike the FSSP and ICKSP. But that’s quite different from saying they don’t have Holy Week in their missal.

Sorry. It was a shorthand. I didn’t realize it would be unclear.

The Angelus is a reprint of a previous missal.
So is the Baronius Press one. The one it was made from is a significantly smaller book, which explains why the Ordinary of the Mass is printed with Latin on one page and English on the other (rather than just two columns). It’s also why in the rest of the missal the Latin is smaller print than the English. Prioritising the little space that’s there.
It doesn’t make much sense when the missal is the size Baronius Press made it. It mostly just annoys me having to turn the page so often for the ordinary.

That and the rubrics and explanatory notes being interspersed with the text of the Mass is bothersome. I much prefer Angelus Press’ practice of leaving such in the margins.

Depending on where you live, Catholic thrift stores are a great place to find old missals for a few dollars.

I would disagree I find have all 3 I like the angelus the most then the lasance and the baronius the least I find that the lasance though beautiful to be too big the baronius is too big and doesn’t have good explanations but it is a high quality missal. The angelus is smaller has good explanations and a good amount of prayers.

I also have some used missals I had a st joesph used missal but I gave it away I have a st Andrew which is nice but it is the 1958 version so the pictures are ugly. I have a Marian 1962 missal that doesn’t have any Latin only English my favorite of those is the laymans missal it is small fits in your coat pocket and has pretty much everything you need
