I’d put it off and put it off for far too long and then after making excuses, I found myself in a position of being back in my old home city and being within touching distance of the cathedral there. So I had no excuse not to go to the Mass.

Now I had it in my head, bearing in mind I’d never actually been to a normal Mass before (sat through plenty of weddings though!) that it was going to be really alien to me. Thoughts kept running in my head that I was going to get judged for not saying the right words or doing the right gesture at the right time.

Nope, it wasn’t anything like I’d thought. Everything I saw was exactly as described that I’d read in my Bible. I was amazed at how much prayer and scripture there actually was (and they say Catholics aren’t allowed to hear scripture!). People were actually really cool too, and seemed just plain happy to see people there at the Mass.

👍 for church!

Now try going to a Latin Mass, which is even better than the ordinary form.

You could also try going to Eastern Catholic Divine Liturgy’s, they too are very beautiful.

Welcome home. Never lose that feeling about the Mass. It is indeed the greatest prayer of the Catholic Church.

I’m very happy that you enjoyed going to Mass, OP, and I hope you will continue to do so. 👍

Banned for - Oh wait a minute. 😉 UNbanned for going to Mass!!! I’m so happy for you!!! Now you gotta rope the rest of your friends into coming…XD

I’m very happy for you. Praying for you.
If you would like more information you could attend RCIA at your parish. There you could learn more about the Faith with no obligation.

God bless you.

It is nice to hear from “newbies” who are excited about the Faith. Sometimes I take the Faith for granted. You are an inspiration.

Let your friends know!

Glad to hear of your experience! And to God be the glory. 👍

Glad you enjoyed Mass. I like going to Mass and I go to weekday Mass as often as possible, as well as weekly Sunday Mass.

I really enjoy being with those who attend Mass and enjoy praising Him with everyone.

Welcome! So glad you went!!

No, they are just different. “Better” is subjective, and is not to be used, and one shouldn’t compare the two in this manner.

RCIA is something I’m thinking of doing actually. I need to find a more local church too.
Glad to hear of your experience! And to God be the glory. 👍
I never thought I’d ever go back to church again…

That was something else I noticed- people seemed to be there because they genuinely wanted to be there, rather than feeling they were fulfilling some sort of obligation or going through the motions.
That’s awesome, and glad you enjoyed it!

Here’s to many (hopefully) more Masses!

I don’t even know if there’s a Latin mass in my town TBH. I hope there is, it would mean my 6 years of Latin study was actually useful for something.

That´s so wonderful. Please don´t delay again! Praying for you.

Welcome. Glad you like it. :)👍😃

Now you may want to get your hand on one of those booklets (GIRM is a good one) that explains to you what each part of the mass and its rubric means.

God bless you.🙂

Hopefully you will reach the point where, no matter what else happens during the week, the highlight will always be Sunday Mass.
When people understand that Jesus is there, waiting for you, and you fully understand what is happening, it is just the greatest thing.
God bless you.
