So I have a 1956 St. Joseph Daily Missal

I bought it a while ago for about $1 at a yard sale. I’m not Catholic, but I’d like it to go to use somewhere after it sitting around here collecting dust.

I think the only local church that does the traditional EF is a sedevacantist CMRI church. I suppose I could give it to them, but I just thought I’d ask for suggestions here first.

Well, personally I’d say to not give anything to a sedevacantist organization. However, keep if for yourself! Pray the prayers of the daly Mass. Or, you could try bringing it to an EF Mass if you ever go. If it isn’t Holy Week, i’m pretty sure it’ll be mostly the same.

Often there are Latin Mass communities within the dioceses. Sometimes there are churches to which members of the F.S.S.P. (a Catholic priestly fraternity) celebrate Mass in the Extraordinary Form. Also maybe you may auction it online and if you don’t intend to make money out of it, donate the money afterwards

Even Holy Week should be the same. The “restoration” occurred in 1955, so the only changes you should notice are that St. Joseph isn’t in the Canon and the 2nd Confiteor will still be listed.

Maybe I’ll email a local priest then, and see if he knows who would be able to put it to use. I’d prefer not to sell it, especially without knowing if it’s actually going to be used.

I don’t even know how it would be prayed exactly, but it seems like it would conflict with the Orthodox liturgical calendar, difference in saints venerated, etc. Add to that the fact that my priest would almost definitely disapprove haha.

There must be traditional Catholics in your area who would appreciate an old missal, even if no Latin Mass nearby, Ask the Catholic priests nearby.

You can get $50 to $100 bucks for it on ebay…I’ve been picking up old Missals at yard sales and thrift shops for years and selling them on ebay…there is quite a demand for them.
