Tweetymon, i was perplexed by some of your reponses and so i did a search on all your posts and would suggest that if you want to pretend that you are a Catholic that you every now and then say something in line with the church teaching
I am not pretending anything. I am a Catholic who doesn’t agree with all the CC teaches. I should do this because?

Acts 1:8 was men of the Church, only.

John 14:26 tells of a discussion between our Lord an the Apostles ,only.

John 16:13 is a continuation of a discussion between our Lord and the Apsotles, only.

Ok, tweetymom, I received a different interpretation, at least I think I did, since you only post scriptures without an explanation.

Three of those verses, if read in context of who was speaking to whom and where the discussions took place, etc., was not addressing the laity, or the multitudes. It was discussions of authority matters. Acts 1:8 was a meeting of all the Apostles, and some they had appointed, to replace Judas. John 14:26 and John 16:13 was Jesus speaking only to the Apostles, giving them instructions, building up their confidence and letting them know what was about to happen to Him. Jesus was not speaking to mulitudes and it’s a misinterpretation to think He was speaking to everyone, including people of today.

How do you take something Jesus said to Peter, and totally apply it to yourself? How come I never see someone who interprets scriptures for themselves apply the ‘get thee behind me satan’ statement to Peter to themself? It’s a pick and choose what one wants to apply to themself, which is assuming an authority upon themself, and cannot be supported by scriptures.
SEE I do not see it your way I believe all the Bible was meant for each of us, and if you do not believe this thats your problem.🤷 I read it with the Holy Spirit. And if I acted like Peter did some I would expect to have Jesus say to me, get behind me satan. I am not assuming any authority except Jesus and the HS. I did not write the scriptures because I was a bit in a hurry and I do not really have access to those websites you click on to write the scriptures for me.

I would think because you are a member of the Bride of Christ He being our groom, you would want to love and defend his body with every fiber of your being. Peace and God’s Blessings.;)Carlan

See you don’t get it I do not believe the CC is the only way to love Jesus or serve Him. If you do I say God Bless 👍 you.

Tweetymom, I would urge you to fully research those issues with which you disagree. I think you will be pleasantly surpirsed on every teaching of the CC. Implicit in what you say is the fact that in reality you are a Protestant. All Protestant denominations have some beliefs in common with the CC. To be Catholic means to submit to the teaching authority of the Church. No one has a gun to your head. My point is, why do you want to be called Catholic if you don’t agree? The beauty of Protestantism is that you could start your own church tomorrow. You would be just one more in over 50,000 different denominations, all who read scripture with the HS, just like you, and all who disagree with each other on what the HS told them.

EDIT: Not sure why this shows the referenced post as being from Carlan. It is from Tweetymom.

I get it , and I absolutely do believe that our separated brothers love our Lord Jesus as much as you and I do, That is not what concerns us, we know and understand the same Truths we have in common and we rejoce in that. However most of Christ’s separated flock have not been able to accept the full Truth, the full deposit of faith given to us by Jesus. We in the Church pray for unity every day and it hurts us all very much when our own will not defend the Truth and dessent for what ever reason. God bless and meet us all at our deepest need. :)Carlan

I Call myself Catholic because that is what I choose to. Thank you for you sarcasm that I could start my own Church. I do not and will never agree that all the CC teaches is from God. Are you happy with who and what you believe? Well so am I.

I think you disagree with certain parts of the catholic Church -because you feel sorry for the many millions who are not in the catholic Church… You just want us all to be one big giant family… Dont ya?

wrong why would I feel sorry for those not in the CC? I feel sorry for the poor, those in Haiti. children who are abused etc. etc.etc, but not I repeat the Christians who are not Catholics. But yes it is too bad we are not a big happy family in Christ and forget the demonation.

I know you’re trying to tell me that I somehow am missing some points from the Bible, however I feel it’s just the opposite. I read with the Holy Spirit as my guide, and His Church. That’s the authority taught in scriptures, by Christ. I’m not one to ‘assume’ my own authority since He did not teach that we should do that. If He intended for everything to apply to everyone, show me where that’s written in scriptures.

BTW, through Peter’s weakness as a man, he did not want Christ to die, that’s why Christ said, ‘get thee behind me satan’.

There is a free Bible program, that I use to copy and paste scriptures. It’s actually made by Protestants, but it works really well. You can download it, and they have a few free Bibles and other modules you can get as well. It’s at e-sword.net/

Scriptures teach us to be of the same mind and judgement, to be of the same accord and to avoid those who create dissension or divisions. Sadly, but honestly, that how I see your posts. You seem to solely post to oppose anyone Catholic here and then proclaim that you are Catholic. Are you being of the same mind and judgement, or are you creating dissensions and difficulties?

**Rom 16:17 I appeal to you, brethren, to take note of those who create dissensions and difficulties, in opposition to the doctrine which you have been taught; avoid them.

1Co 1:10 I appeal to you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree and that there be no dissensions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.

Php 2:2 complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.

Rom 15:5 May the God of steadfastness and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus,
Rom 15:6 that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Joh 17:17 Sanctify them in the truth; thy word is truth.
Joh 17:18 As thou didst send me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.
Joh 17:19 And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be consecrated in truth.
Joh 17:20 "I do not pray for these only, but also for those who believe in me through their word,
Joh 17:21 that they may all be one; even as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
Joh 17:22 The glory which thou hast given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one,
Joh 17:23 I in them and thou in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that thou hast sent me and hast loved them even as thou hast loved me.

1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body–Jews or Greeks, slaves or free–and all were made to drink of one Spirit.

Rom 12:4 For as in one body we have many members, and all the members do not have the same function,
Rom 12:5 so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.

Eph 4:4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call,

Col 3:15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful.**

The Church is the body of Christ and He is the head.

Then why do you choose to be Catholic, if it’s not scriptural, according to your interpretation?

And, you did not offer your interpretation on a single scriptures provided, why?

Is this in line with what Pope John Paul II said?

She has answered this. She doesn’t really choose to be Catholic. She wishes to be in her old protestant Church BUT her husband is Catholic. To please him she pretends to be Catholic. She does not realize nor does she care to know where and when the Bible was written. That the Bible is the product of the Catholic Church and not the other way around escapes her.

I did not give interpretation because I do not agree with your interpretation, and I am not going to argue doctrine. I already told you at least a dozen times what I do not agree with from the CC.

I am Catholic and I do not pretend anything to you or my husband. I do not go to please him at all but I believe he is the head of this house and I choose to go to Church with him. He knows exactly how I feel. I do not have to go to CC to please him, believe me!!!1:thumbsup:
