I can sympathize with your view to a certain extent. However, it would be rash to ASSUME that because a homily misses an opportunity to make a point, or seems dumbed down, that the priest did not conscientiously prepare for it. We all know that because of the priest shortage, a LOT is expected of priests. They don’t have much spare time.
Also if the priest makes us feel uneasy, that CAN be a good thing. Making the comfortable uneasy and the troubled comfortable is actually the job of the priest!
My point is that it is VERY EASY to criticize like the Pharisees. It would be much better to give the priest every benefit of the doubt.
