So if you die and find out the Muslim God is real

You get 72. So what will the other 71 be?
Sounds nice but I’m a big believer in doing one thing right instead of a bunch of things half a**ed. Of course given that I’ll have an eternity to figure it out, maybe I’ll tell the other 71 to take a number and wait by the door.;);)😉

I’m a bit tempted by the theological rabbit holes this presents, but I’m not looking into them because I’d end up with a throbbing headache. Let’s just say I’m on board with mkoopman about the Christian idea of God vs. the Islamic one. If I’m wrong, I’ll just do the same thing I’d do anyway - beg God to have mercy on my poor soul. Anyway, who says the seventy virgins have to be women? 😉

If there is no God …Believers didn’t lose anything. They lived good lives & should be satisfied. If there is a God…they will go to Heaven. 👍

If there is no God…** Atheists had more fun in life & should be satisfied. ** If there is a God…and they didn’t believe in Him, they are in a big danger of going to hell!
Gosh, I have heard so many many stories of people without God in their lives. In their 50’s and 60’s, their lives were a slow motion train wreck. Lots of heart ache, struggle, sadness. Regrets.

One story that particularly struck me was talking with a grandma who was outside the faith. She told me her grandson was finally getting married and he was in his mid 30’s. I put my foot in my mouth and said that she was going to be a great grandmother soon. Oh no, she replied. Between the 2 of them they already have 7 children with different partners. They can’t afford to have children with each other.

Doesn’t that just break your heart?

The word of God is a lamp unto our feet. Navigating life is full of land mines and although believers have struggle and heart ache, they have the grace of God working in their lives. Many land mines were totally avoided as a result of staying within God’s will for marriage and family life.

I know that wasn’t the point of your remark but I felt I should add my thoughts to that one sentence.
God bless you.

Because the Hadiths describe how they will lose their virginity and then become virgins again. It also says that these men will marry these virgins. I’m assuming that gay men are not allowed into Heaven according to Islam.

Wait, what do the women get?

I have been told that women will get one man who will satisfy them. However, I have seen a video of Zakir Naik (Famous Muslim Apologist) who claims that they will get 72 men.

Hmm. Maybe the women are all just the 72 virgins, and the man they get paired with is the one that will satisfy them?

Muhammad crafted the religion to provide incentive to young men to fight for Arab imperialism without actually being paid - in most cases. Sexual bliss fit the bill. As men are inherently better in melee combat, there simply wasn’t much need to address what the ladies get.

For whatever it’s worth, I’m a woman, so gay men wouldn’t interest me. I’ll take 72 fine, strapping men if you please, and be quite happy, just so long as they’re all exactly like my dear husband. 🙂

You mean then that we find out the Muslim religion is the true one, not the Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, or Baha’i religion. I think the finding out we are in heaven (or purgatory) with G-d would be the utmost wonder, so that if G-d informs us that the Muslims had it right all along, that information would not make as much difference even though we might be quite surprised. Besides, what does Islam say about non-believers of Islam going to paradise? Is that possible?
Nice to see a Jewish person use the word Purgatory.

First you will need to become Muslim and then you would need to die in Jihad.

Judaism believes in Purgatory. We had the concept first! LOL
Sure you did. Judaism came before Christianity. However, most protestant denominations scoff at Catholics because we believe in Purgatory. Proof is there in the Old Testament 2 Macabees 12:46. There is also proof in the New Testament.

Just a question. Do you call it Purgatory or another name?

Neither one of those things is going to happen. And it’s just as well, because my 72 male virgins would probably turn out to be 70 little boys, all permanently teething.

I don’t think we have an official name for Purgatory. We just speak of it as a place (or state) in which we are cleansed of our sins before entering heaven.

Thanks for clearing that up. I often wondered about the Jewish position.
