As is our current cultural sexual beliefs and standards, and our opinion of the place our sexuality should play in our identity as a person. To me it’s just more and more insane to define your identity by your sexual desire.

I’m honestly asking this - do you think it’s reasonable to say that we become a slave to our identity? If I define myself as a follower of Jesus, then my actions will hopefully largely fall in line with what he says. If I define myself by my sexuality, won’t that also almost predetermine most or all of my actions and the direction of my life?

Yes, actually. They recognize civil marriages as actual marriages, just not sacramental ones. When it comes to homosexual unions, they don’t recognize that as a marriage since it isn’t one.
