1 million people? Seriously doubt it, unless they were coming from the whole of Europe (which is possible)

Remember Spain has a population of 40 million, so even if they were all Spanish we’re talking one-fortieth of the population. And roughly one-tenth aren’t Catholic.

So it’s doable, though again highly unlikely.

I believe he’s there to strengthen Catholic’s faith

happygal;

I believe you are gravely mistaken. He has been exposed by mainstream Protestants here in America (one of his ‘churches’ wants nothing to do with him and his family) and has been given an “F” rating by a Christian organization which measures donations (Benny Hinn calls them “love gifts”) and how they are used by the ‘televangelist agency/ministry.’

He is sad and deserves our prayers. And it is sad that many people are without any type of grounding or foundation when attempting to discern God’s will in Scriptures.

It’s Quietism all over again.

Hi

What are these crusades and against which people?

Why it interests so much people; are they Catholics?

Thanks
Is this typical of any evangelical entering an ancient Christian country ie Do we take our faith too much for granted and expect the faithful to show up Sunday after Sunday and assume this will never change? There seems to be a hunger to fill a void and maybe the church needs to get off her honches and get busy countering this by its own reevangelizing her masses.
:yup: :hmmm: :newidea: :byzsoc:

Very true!!! ANd there is a lesson for all of us. These evangelizing no it and are using it to their advantage. An aglican writer once wrote something similar to complaining Anglicans as did Dr. Campolo. There was an assumption that because we are church X we do not have to work or do much else and you will come…nay must come and occupy a pew. Meanwhile while mainline Churches slept what were to become mega churches went out and fed our people and they meet a myraid of needs in a Christian setting (literally from aeorbics to Men’s Bible Study and accountability groups to helping kids have fellowship and scripture learning activities}.

You are correct unless we want to sleep ourselves into oblvion we need to get off our butts. There are Anglican Churches I know doing this and they are growing.

Any nation that votes for same-sex so-called “marriage” isn’t Catholic.

It is a sign of the times. To be sure these people are not without blessings. The Muslims are also not without blessings.

This in fact goes back to Abraham and GOD’s covenant with Abraham. You will note that Abraham had two sons, and one was an illegitimate child of adultery. Isaac was the son which GOD kept his covenant with. However, GOD also gave blessings unto Ishmael.

That being said, it seems the Protestants are blessed, but the covenant blood of CHRIST remains Catholic. Therefore you will see people who have been blessed, and do works in CHRIST, as charity works, and of course have sin unto themselves. Of course Benny Hinn is a charlatain, we know that, but he also does charity work, and has a family, and lacks for nothing.

In short it is a sign of the times, in which many deceivers come in the name of CHRIST JESUS, and if possible will deceive even the elect of GOD.

Matthew 24:24 *For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders, insomuch as to deceive (if possible) even the elect.

To the poster upthread, that Benny Hinn “let the bodies hit the floor” video on youtube is right on the mark.

Your information is incorrect. The people of Spain have never voted for same sex marriage! Unlike in places like Massachusetts, the issue has never been put to a popular vote here. And it won’t be, because the Socialist government of Spain is believes in social engineering, not in determining the will of the people.

The Socialist government of Spain, having successfully manipulated the Spanish people’s anguish over the 11 March bombings of the commuter trains in Madrid three days prior to the elections in 2004, began to attack the Church and the traditional family almost immediately after coming to power. Forming a coalition with even more radical and hostile minority political parties, they began to ram a series of unpopular measures through the parliament, even despite numerous popular protests in the streets of Madrid.

I don’t know if you can read Spanish or not, but specifically, here is information regarding the protest of June 2005 against the law you cite:

20minutos.es/noticia/32519/0/manifestacion/matrimonio/homosexual/

elmundo.es/elmundo/2005/06/18/espana/1119111135.html

I don’t deny that there are many in Spain who support it, nor would I presume to say that the majority are against it. I will limit myself to insisting that an enormous percentage of the population is against it. I assume this is so in the U.S. too.

But we are living in an age of extensive moral confusion–just as are the U.S., the U.K., Canada and the entire Western World. And, if I recall correctly, despite being put to a vote in different states in the U.S., the bans have been legally challenged, various state Supreme Courts have knocked down laws forbidding it and it is gaining ground anyway, so …

This is true for the most part, but in and of itself, is no indication of the solidity of the Catholic Faith on the part of your average Spanish Catholic. Mass attendance is about as low here as it is anywhere in Western Europe and the catechesis as weak and bland as what you have in large areas of the States…
Moneo - I spent a month in Spain in the early 70s. Spain is the stealth culture here in Louisiana. We were a colony of Spain from 1763 to 1803. We are Spanish not Hispanic. I could not believe that what I was brought up believing was French was actually Spanish.l

I cannot believe that those folks and priest that I met back in the 70s would fall for Benny Hinn. Benny Hinn espouses a type of evangelical protestantism which has meaning to cultures here in the United States but which would be so antithetical to Catholic Spanish culture as to be a Harry Potter novel taken literally.

We are your descendants. We are as Catholic as our forefathers. Baton Rouge is not New Orleans. Catholics are only 40% of the population here. Benny Hill reportedly had a crusade in Baton Rouge last year. Couldn’t prove it by me. Millions in Spain? Hype…sheer hype.

The reality is that there is a spiritual hunger among people everywhere because of generations that have not benefitted from adequate/decent catechesis. If folks with solid theology and doctrine don’t get their act together to go forth and baptize and teach, the void will be filled by less than adequate teachers like Hinn.

Christendom is suffering from elitism and a failure to teach. To expect people to just show up for mass or church amidst a world full of choices is just being naive… and possibly unfaithful to the Gospel and the making of disciples.

Rbt Southwell;2575430:
I agree. He’s a fraud & a sham.

Benny Hinn has been excommunicated by the Free Methodist Church. To my knowledge, he isn’t even ordained (except possibly by a diploma mill; my cat is also “ordained” by Universal Life Church…)
Now, he claims that he was never Free Methodist to begin with…Um…Trust me, they aren’t proud of him. They didn’t throw him out for being proud of him.
Hi There

Whether BH a fraud or Sham i don’t really bother. Back in my hometown church, members and pastors knew about his doing, we don’t see him as a preacher but rather a gifted healer.
We invited him over to my church for healing crusade for the sick , typcially for the non believer. They accepted Christ not because of us but the conviction of Holy Spirit that worked through BH “Miracles Healing”.

The thing here is, we don’t deny our leaders despite their wrong doing, becoz leader were the chosen one by God, not us.
Even when a priest sin against God , we too don’t deny him. There is nothing wrong with God’s teaching, problem is the instructment which God use,us the HUMAN. Nonetheless, it is common for human to see those bad stuff rather then the good stuff, once your image was tainted, it shall be with you for life. What a broken down world.

One word to everyone here in the forum, if you don’t like BH, then don’t watch his program or listen to his radio speech…etc…etc…
Don’t have to fill your heart with resentment. Murmuring/complaining is a outward sign of your resentment towards him…
It does not help you with your walk with God.
Let’s us all examine our heart and mind why do we have to do that, does God teaches us that? Certianly not!!! So think about what God instead really wanted us to do~~~Peace!!!

Scripture tells us to shun the false teachers.

Here in America, Benny Hinn has been exposed as a fake prophet in his so-called “faith healing.”

Why? Because the people supposedly ‘healed’ were in his employ and were not suffering from their purported ailments.

We call that fraud in America.

It’s a crime and in the Church it’s a sin.
