Here Here! Well said Melterboy!

As a UU, I am often confronted by people whose preconceived notions of what we are leads them to believe certain erroneous facts.

To answer the initial question posited by the OP, no and yes.

The Bible is not wrong to Christians who believe its teachings are the authentic teachings of their God.

However, it is wrong to Muslims who believe the Quoran to be the authentic teachings of their God,

The above statements are true despite both religious traditions claiming to believe in the same monotheistic God.

As a Unitarian Universalist, I don’t believe either text is right or wrong. I believe each has something to teach us, but I don’t believe either to be divine proclamation.

So, the answer to the question is yes and no.

Considering the Koran is essentially a rewritten “Bible”, yes, it does make sense for the Koran to possess some truth in it. Joseph Smith actually tried to rewrite the KJV once, but he died before it could be fully “translated”.

Hey, BTW, did you know that Mohammed was a merchant? That means he met all kinds of people in his time. It’s been said he even met Christians… Nestorian Christians…

Joseph Smith did do a partial translation of the Bible, however the LDS generally use the KJV since it is accepted by other faiths. I find that the KJV is fine just the way it is.

It seems I’m the only one who has actually used the Bible (post 55 and 59) to try to answer the original question. Any comments? I would be interested to hear if these helped answer the question and what Catholics understand or believe about the Abrahamic covenant.
