i have a problem with this small stuff, in my email accounts (yahoo) i usually put Oman as the place where i live,(not that i do).

but then i considered it could be a form of lying, so i decided to change it, but now it ask me for postal code and such, that I know its pretty simple to get for them, but i really dont w or is it acceptable for me to just ignore that, and continue as if nothing happened?

Can’t you enter the information honestly and then adjust privacy settings so that no one will be able to view your location?

I do it all the time on stuff like this. I don’t want to be tracked as a consumer and big brother is in our lives way too much anyway. Yahoo does not need to know where I live - or at least they need to work to find out.

Are you so wealthy you might buy something, or so special that anyone would actually want to contact you? lol:rolleyes:

Since we are talking about an e-mail account, u should probably try to abide by any rules and/or the Terms of Service that they may have. If, according to the Terms of Service, or guidelines (or w/e) that u probably were supposed to read when u first signed up for the account, expect u to answer honestly in this or that area, say location, then I think u definitely should (imo, it’s the right thing to follow whatever rules u agreed to). However, there’s nothing wrong with leaving things blank, such as location, (if u are able) as it is quite understandable that the Internet can be a scary place, and it’s all too easy nowadays for people to “stalk” people and gather information about people for devious purposes.

But yeah, I agree with the person that mentioned about adjusting your privacy settings. 🙂 That’s what I do, too, with a lot of my e-mail accounts or site accounts.

Not sure how you mean this exactly. I just value my privacy. Anyone who pays attention knows that every single person is being tracked at the Utah Data Center. You have a file, I have a file, everyone does. It’s a fact. I try to make it more difficult for them buy using cash, not answering ‘security’ questions with real answers etc. Snark away. I don’t care.

im beggining to see this as a just rebelion, why do they need to know where do I live and work? altough i might be wrong and really the contact information is useless and really leaving it like that makes no problem at all.

Here is the Yahoo privacy page which may interest you: info.yahoo.com/privacy/us/yahoo/ They talk in general about why they collect this type of info, and why they do, particularly under the heading called “INFORMATION COLLECTION AND USE”.

Remember, if u don’t like what you’re agreeing to, u can always use another service.
