I am accused by people of having a bad outlook on life. The reason behind this is when talking with people I tell them I am disgusted with life here on earth and am ready to go home to Our Lord. This isn’t wrong to think this way is it? I explain I don’t have a death wish but my feelings are just those. In the beginning life wasn’t supposed to be like it is now. Original sin took care of this. I don’t want to shed a bad light on my faith for I am proud to be a Catholic. I always try to be friendly and smile at everyone and don’t take out my bad moods on anyone. I was also “invited” by management at work to participate in a weekly meeting they hold; they read through the book “The world’s most powerful leadership principle” by James C. Hunter. It is a book of how to become a servant leader. By being a servant he talks about Christ. I have the book but haven’t read it because it doesn’t say what faith he is and I don’t want to get wrapped up with some dime store philosophy that doesn’t have a Catholic interpretation, I haven’t said that and maybe I should and I know this hasn’t been taken well by management since it is by “invitation only”. So is this wrong? 🤷 Just asking opinions.

People should have not accused you.

Seek what is above; however, not everything here on Earth is disgusted. How about those beautiful stories about someone helping others’ lives? Would you like to hear it? Would you like to do like that person does - helping others?

Those are only few questions as examples - It is great that we have our eyes focused on Heaven, but let’s not forget that one does not live here on Earth for himself but for many others.

God has purposes for us - in Heaven as well as on Earth - we should pray to follow and accomplish those purposes.

God bless.

I’m not sure what you are asking. Do you mean is having a bad outlook on life bad or not going to this book club thing? 🙂

Maybe you are right but lots of people really do try to look on the bright side and notice the good because they need to. If I thought like you (and I have in the past) I’d sink into a very deep depression and wish I didn’t exist at all. That would be bad for me and could potentially lead to sin. If you can cope with pessimism, it isn’t a sin in itself but noticing goodness definately makes you happier. Maybe some people are taken aback by your bluntness.

Earth is our basic training and basic training was never meant to be fun.

For starters I’ve stopped watching the news broadcasts on TV. I can hear everything I need in a 5-minute newscast on the radio.

As a result, I’m losing the sense that the media seems keen to push, that the world is going to heck in a handbasket.

Remember, God created the world and made it good. Our faults and failings may detract from this, but since He is greater than the sum of all our greatest stuff-ups, I refuse to believe that it is completely or mainly bad.

Sorry, I was actually thinking of starting another thread for the second question but chose not to.:o

Joe, I think you have a bad attitude 😛 but it is true.

I can get into a funk thinking this way. I try to see the good in things and do, good things, my wife, daughter, our cats and dogs, we eat good meals that alot of folks in the world can’t say, a roof over my head, a job. God has been good to my family and I so I do know the world isn’t all bad, you should see the pictures I took in Maui! I know God has a purpose for me and everyone but I still think that what is in store for us is far greater and can’t wait to be in his presence and love. I also know it for him to decide when that will be. It will be beautiful and peace will come at last. For the most part I am a happy person and people ( at work at least, I am not a social person ) like to be around me. I think it just takes them back when I talk like this. Go figure. I do see bad in the world, quite a bit of bad and my wife tells me that the good outweighs the bad but sometimes I do wonder.
