first reading:
“we must consider how to rouse one another to good works”

Anybody got any ideas?

The psalm says that God founded the world upon the seas,
and established it upon the rivers. This is so true. Has
anyone noticed right in Genesis that when God created the
heavens and the earth, that it seems like the water was
already there? Then when He made the garden of Eden, it
was “established” by 4 rivers.

The gospel says that to the one who has, more will be given.
To the one who has not, even what little he has will be taken
away. So… how can we judge if we have a lot or a little?
Should we even try?

So what struck you about today’s readings?:bible1:
 
Am I incorrect in remembering that you take care of your children? I’m sure you take many opportunitues to rise up to help them and your wife…and you faithfully present the daily readings for discussion even when most people who read them don’t openly respond! You’re not doing too badly, Cheeto!!!

And I think we might leave the judging to God. As Jesus said in Matthew 25, verses 31-46, it’s all about our kind acts towards others. I guess we have little if we give little, however much we think we have!

Yes you are so right. But this is what’s on my mind: encouraging others to do something good that they(me
especially) might not otherwise think of.

An example is this: where I used to live, there was a mechanical
horsie for kids to ride in the grocery store. It only cost a penny.
I made it my policy everytime I was leaving and I walked by that
horse, I would leave a penny there. Sometimes there would even
be a kid sitting on the horse, but still, because they didn’t have a
penny. Who can say how much a child’s smile is worth?

I am certain that there are people who have ideas, things that
you already thought of to do, things anyone could do, if only
they thought of the idea. If you have something nice you thought of doing, won’t you share it?

Have you ever thought of scraping the ice off your spouse’s
car windows in the morning? I have!

And what is something your church does that maybe other
churches didn’t think of? Ours does something called a
sympathy basket, delivered to a family in which someone has
passed away. None of my other churches in my life have
thought of that, it’s nice.

Yes, God does the judging, but if there is any suffering left in
the world, our work here isn’t done yet!
 
Those who have the Light (Faith in Jesus) will be given more, those with little Light risk losing it all.
