Today I am struck by the psalm. These words are used for God: King, robed,
girt with strength, throne. All these words seem to signify power to we humans.
But do they signify power to God? What is a king, next to God? What is a robe?
What is strength compared to Almighty God? How is a throne, a chair, of any
importance to God who has no need to sit on a throne to show His great power?
So what is God’s opinion, what does He find that signifies power, what does He
call Himself that signifies power in His opinion? Servant. Isn’t that strange?
the word that signifies the least power to us. If someone serves us, we might
give them a tip. But Jesus asked, “Who is more important, the one being served,
or the one who serves?”

In the gospel, Jesus is speaking to Nicodemus and says, “We speak about what
we know and we tesify to what we have seen”. Who is we? Is it the disciples,
or Himself as the Trinity? Is there anyone else “we” could be?

One more thing in the psalm: it says His decrees are worthy of trust.
What would it mean to Not trust the decrees of God? Would it mean you
thought He was lying?

Today is the day of St. Anselm, archbishop of Canterbury who defended the church.

So what struck you about today’s readings? :bible1::twocents:

I believe them to be symbols of power. Since God has these symbols of authority, God has authority over all creation.

The Holy Spirit is listed as a witness to Jesus’ words in John’s Gospel. I think that is the “We” that Jesus is talking about, for no one else is seen preaching, other than maybe John the Baptist.

Maybe too many people think that God’s decrees apply to everyone BUT themself?

Not so much the readings but the ability to sing out the “Alleluia” before the Gospel!!! I missed that so much during Lent!
