“In the world you will have trouble,
but take courage, I have conquered the world” – the gospel today
There are 3 saints this Memorial Day.
1 – St. Bede the venerable, known as the happy monk.
included in his readings is this line, “Who can know the mind of the Lord?
But we are those who have the mind of Christ.”
2 – Pope Gregory VII.
included in his readings is this line, “Make us courageous in condemning
evil and free us to pursue justice with love.”
3 – Mary Magdalene de Pazzi.
included in her readings is 1Cor7:25-35, which encourages the single to
remain so at these end times, and the married to remain so also.
Our priest changed the readings for mass today, and made the gospel,
“the widow of Naim”. When he read it, I thought of all the mothers who lost their
sons in war. What would they think if they were walking along with their son’s casket
in the funeral, and Jesus walked up to that casket, and raised her son to life, like He did for the widow of Naim?
So what struck you about today’s readings? :bible1::twocents:
