“God has then granted life-giving repentance to the Gentiles too”

Yes, it is God that grants us repentance, not ourselves. It is God Himself that
walks us into the confessional, every good thing we have ever done is actually
done by God through us, and today’s 1st reading says that includes repentance…

“my soul longs for You, O God” – today’s psalm puts into words that feeling
when we go to God in prayer…

Yesterday Jesus said He was the good shepherd, today He says He is the sheep
gate. So He is at once the shepherd and the gate. He says anyone who enters
another way is a thief. But how can anyone enter another way? Jesus says, “I
am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no one comes to the Father but through Me”.
So then, isn’t it impossible to enter another way?

Hello there!

It seems to me that the Gentiles were the ones to believe in everythings the Apostles were proclaiming. The Jewish people were still fighting with themselves about who and what Jesus truly represented. I think those who were among the “chosen” had the most difficult time letting go of their beliefs. The Gentikles, on the other hand, Were more open as they were pagans to begin with. They had no true sense of God. The changes required by believing in Jesus caused many problems for the jews of that day. It still does some two thousand years later.

I don’t understand after all this time why they do not accept Jesus as the Messiah. What are they waiting for? Why did the Gentiles conversion not open their eyes?

I thirst for God is a mantra for me. I trust in Jesu is another. My well-being and life hinge on my beliefs. My desire to know more and to expierence Him more and more in my soul is all I think about. My life is so lost without God. It is then pointless to live.

Jesus gives us an oportunity to also be like Him in regards to being a good shepard. We go out and teach others His life giving message. We help others in His Holy name. We are blest through Him. He is the Gate to supreme happiness!

Today is my Mothers’ Birthday. She also died on this day many years ago. I sure do miss her. Please say a prayer for the repose of her soul. Thank You!

I don’t understand after all this time why they do not accept Jesus as the Messiah. What are they waiting for? Why did the Gentiles conversion not open their eyes?

Jesus gives us an oportunity to also be like Him in regards to being a good shepard.

Well, they think the Gentiles were tricked, and that Jesus’ body was actually stolen.
They think the Gentiles are wishing He was still alive, and just mistakenly thinking it
so, much like people who wish Elvis was still alive, and think they see him.

You bring up the idea that Jesus gives us an opportunity to be a good shepherd
like Him. I thought of this when Jesus says a prayer in John 17:9 –
“For these I pray - not for the world but for these you have given me, for they are
really yours”. And who are the ones that God has given us? Every single person
we encounter, and especially those we have any kind of relationship with, He has
given us all these people to play our part with in building His kingdom here on earth…

God bless your dear mother…now we see where you get your kindness and gentleness from, and faith… May her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace, amen. I know she is so proud of you! :heaven:

“persecution that arose because of Stephen” – first reading.
Did Stephen stone himself? no, but I have wondered how that would have went
if he left out the name-calling part of his testimony…
Of course, Jesus did quite a lot of name-calling Himself…

Today’s gospel continues for the third day to tell us that Jesus is the good
shepherd. Today He says that those who hear His voice and follow Him will
never be lost, because no one can steal from the Father…
Yet is there anyone who doesn’t know of a person who has fallen away from
their faith?
