So let's talk about today's readings 5/9/09

Today’s first reading is so unfair. It reminds me of the time the crowd was shouting
to Pilate, “crucify Him!” You know that the whole crowd didn’t want this, yet Pilate
went along with the loudest ones. Now the same thing happens today, and Paul and
Barnabas shake the dust off their feet and leave. It’s so unfair! Not everyone agreed
with those loud people, and now Paul and Barnabas left. They shook off the dust on
their feet to the whole town just because of those loud people. And why was it
prominent women who were the cause of all this? It reminds me of Eve all over again,
who didn’t want to be second banana. Paul and Barnabas were all they had left of
Jesus, and now they left because of some “prominent” women. So anyone who
disagrees can just go live in Iconium. It’s so unfair! The loud and rude people are
still in charge today. Why?

Is today’s psalm really true, that all the ends of the earth have seen the saving
power of God? It’s not? Then we have work to do!

O.k. now this gospel is finally enough proof for me that the phrase “the Name”
means something. “If you ask anything of Me in My Name, I will do it.”
What is the reason why He didn’t say “if you ask anything of Me, I will do it.”
Plus, He says it twice, one right after the other.

Thinking of the Psalm, I think it is so true. Think of how little communication there was available in those days. Getting to a town 15-20 miles away was a big long event. Yet the disciples went and talked whereever they could. Even if they were thrown out, some people heard and believed. This lead to word of mouth throughout the lands. The Lord is present I believe through missionaries in every part of the earth. Again it is through word of mouth and again there are conversions. Still much is to be done. We can’t depend on just converting someone, we have to teach them to spread the Good News. It is something that will never be done.

Jesus gave us so many chance at salvation. It’s incredible that there are disbelievers even around. While I do not understand why the Jewish people never recognized His Truth and still don’t, is beyond me. I would have thought by now they would have relized that they are waiting in vain for someone who has already fulfilled the Scriptures. I do feel sad for them

Savation is only possible through Jesus, so I do believe that recourse comes through Him, and through Him is the Father. The Father has final say so on everything, but He did leave the Kingdom to His Son. Therefore it is only right to ask of God through Jesus.

As for the women, gez, it gives us a bad name. I do not understand why it is alway a woman who goofs up.

Today’s readings teach us to believe in Jesus and through Him, our God. It also tells us we need to go spread the news, no matter if we think we are getting through or not! Someone will hear us and believe!
