“Woe to the shepherds
who mislead and scatter the flock of my pasture,
says the LORD…
You have scattered my sheep and driven them away”
When you get to the end of this first reading, it’s talking about Jesus.
But maybe it applies today to the leaders of our church, and maybe it applies
to all Catholics, as leaders of the faith. Why have Catholics been driven away
to other denominations? It’s our responsibility, what should we do about it?
And now today’s well-known psalm:
“In verdant pastures he gives me repose;
beside restful waters he leads me”.
or
“He maketh me to lie down in green pastures,
He leads me beside the still waters.”
“Even though I walk in the dark valley
I fear no evil; for you are at my side”
or
“Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for thou art with me”
Why do I love the King James version so much more???
“Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.”
This is what Jesus invites us to do every Sunday. Not only a rest from
work but to be rejuvinated in our relationship with Him and our Christian
family. It must be really strange to be a priest and you are “working” on
that day.
