Many thanks to all of you.

After your messages I went to see a deacon and opened up a bit, and then I have been to confession. I am due to see a therapist tomorrow morning.

So, please pray for me on this next step. I still feel dreadful about myself!

How does one “feel” God’s forgiveness? At times, it feels very intangible…
Well you can be assured of God’s forgiveness when you are really sorry. It really isn’t about our feeling’s. Glad for your progress, keep going and we’ll keep praying.:blessyou:

Some folks do better through medication, and therapy. Please do not confuse your symptoms of anxiety, depression, low self-worth, feelings of despair or unreasonable guilt with who you are. You and your symptoms are not interchangable. Your symptoms are not you. Through proper medication, possibly therapy and a desire from you to get better, along with the prayers of others, you will get better and continue to please God with your life’s choices. Find someone with whom you are comfortable to share your thoughts. It is our secrets which keep us sick. Avail yourself to the help you need. Do not try to treat your illness by yourself through alcohol, drugs, or sex. And above all, know that you can and will get better. No matter how long you have been plagued with this illness you can change and become “normal”. It is a process, but happens everyday. Keep the faith. Have hope, and stay close to the Holy Spirit. Remember the saying, “This too shall pass.”

apostle1977,

Prayers going up and I’ll add you to my prayer intentions. If you’re feeling low, don’t forget about St. Jude, he has helped me. A novena to St. Jude could be just the thing.

apostle1977, I am praying for your stability in life, Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women and blessed is thy womb Jesus, Holy Mary mother of God pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

It may feel intangible but if you read in the Gospels after ressurection he [Jesus] told his disciples to go and make disciples of all the world and gave them the authority to forgive sins when he said ‘’ whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven, and in another verse he said whose sins you forgive will be forgiven them… you will automatically know that the words the priest says to you are real ‘’ Your sins are forgiven’’ So brother God forgives your sins through the priest who is Christ’s representative during confession.
I may also advise you to contact the apologist.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

I suffer from depression. I feel very low and sad and at times unworthy of life in general.

I practice forgiving myself. Key word “practice”. I deal with each issue that “pops” into my mind one at a time. Its almost like having a very negative person standing next to me telling me terrible things and reminding me of things I don’t want to remember. I have to work through each issue. I make the sign of the cross each time I feel the darkness creeping up on me. Its an exorcism, a small one, that reminds me that I live in the Light and He lives in me. Most times it stops there other times when it creeps on me before I know it I stop the thoughts and begin praying to our Father.

I don’t take medication. I’ve been like this since I was at least 15. I don’t talk to anyone about it. I can’t. So I talk to our Father in heaven alot!! He is my strength.

Does the medication help you? Does it take away the sadness? Does your wife need to know ? I agree share with the priest.

May the Lord grant you peace and serentity.:signofcross:

apostle1977, still praying for you,
the verses I was talking about in my post are here,
John,20:20-23
20 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.
21 (Jesus) said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”
22And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the holy Spirit.
23 Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.”
Mt.18:18 Amen, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Knowing your faith makes you a better catholic read scripture and other spiritual books.

Most likely you need to be on medication. The type SSRI which is non-addictive, of which there are several brands, your doctor will have to prescribe one for you. Also, find someone you can share with. Perhaps therapy is what you need. It sounds as though you have the symptoms of anxiety depression, but you need to check with your doctor. How can you be effective for God if you are disabled by depression? Chances are, you are NOT a victim soul, so get some help so you can be your best.

Thank you all.

I have managed the rosary every day and mass a few times, which have brought me comfort.

I have also started seeing a therapist (but wish it weren’t so expensive!).

That said, I’m very “up and down” at the moment, and prone to very dark thoughts.

Thank you.

Said a prayer for you just now. May God grant you the grace you need to get through your daily struggles and may your situation get better everyday. God bless you dearly.

The Lords’ love for us is so much bigger than any sin we can commit. Once we go to confession, we can feel and be free from the guilt, for His forgiveness is TRUTH. Our little minds could never measure His Love, Mercy or Power. It is all way beyond any reasoning we can do about the subject.

Do yourself a favor…when a bad thought creeps in, don’t fight it, just change the thought for this one…Think about the happiest and most perfect love that you would want your life to be surrounded with, feel it in every part of your being and stay in that state for a while. That love and much, much more is the one that Your Creator, Your Father has for you. Changing one bad thought with a good one, will help you more, than fighting against a negative one, because you’ll end up creating more negative energy within yourself. It has worked for me.

“Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Wounds of our Lord Jesus Christ to heal those of our souls.”
“My Jesus, pardon and mercy, by the merits of Thy Holy Wounds”

:signofcross: St. Michael the Arch Angel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into hell satan and all the evil spirits who prowl throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.
:amen:
Keeping you in prayer.:gopray2:

Just to say I hope everyone can still pray for me. It means a lot to have your support. I have my 2nd therapy session next week. Today, I am suffering from dreadful guilt about past sins, but am praying to Mary, Queen of Peace for relief. Thank you.
