what, they were expecting them to rule only along ideological thought?? How obtuse.

It was very conservative. It was not going to ignore the Constitution for one man. They did what a conservative judges do - stick to the strict interpretation of the Constitution.

Which I never understood. Once you appoint someone to a position that you can not remove them from, what would ever possess you to think you had any more control over them. They said thank you and guess what, that is all you get.

I’m glad you haven’t hung up your swimfins yet, Dr. Jones.

I think they got the Title wrong. Should be “So much for Our Trump Court”. Democracy has won out on this one. But the damaged has been done and will be long lasting.

So much for conservative court? How about so much for 9 member court. If they take the Georgia Senate seats bring on the court packing.

I fully agree.

At what point did conservatism become “Trumpism?”

Conservatism is bigger than one man. If it isn’t, it is idolatry.

I’m guessing people are commenting without reading the source article. This has nothing to do with Texas and the national voting results, it’s about a transgender rights case. @JimG you might want to edit your headline or first post to clarify. Based on timing, everyone is going to assume this is about the election.

Did someone expect a conservative court to not uphold the law?

I’m not familiar with the case being commented on, but from reading the article it seems that Fr. Portella, the author of it, is arguing more from a moral rather than a legal viewpoint. From the standpoint of the law or regulation involved, it may actually be a strict constructionist reading, but I don’t know enough to say.

There has been a few Democrats that wanted it expanded to counter Trump appointees as they would always vote for him. I hope those thinking this have learned something this week about how the Supreme Court works. In any case, Biden never said definitively, but he did say he was no fan of court packing. Do not look for it to happen.

I take it you’re not familiar with Joe Biden
