So on Nickelodeon tonight... (aka the moral decline of our culture)

Tonight, I walked in the room while my younger sister was watching a new episode of Wendell & Vinnie titled ā€œMock Law & Orderā€ on the Nickelodeon channel. To begin:
In the show one of the characters used the word sluttier. This is acceptable on a PG show!!! At the end of the show, a woman walks into the room and addresses Vinnie: ā€œCome on Vinnie, let’s get out of here. I have reservations for dinner and dessert… and dessert.ā€ She then proceeds to walk her fingers up from his navel to caress his cheek and jaw, while saying that she’s very attracted to him. She then leaves. When Vinnie’s sister questions the woman’s motives; Vinnie barks ā€œMind your own business!ā€ laugh track plays and he follows. I guess this is par for the course these days?? Go Vinne, get some!! We applaud your pursuits of premarital sex! :banghead:
What morals are they instilling in children?? I understand that PG stands for Parental Guidance, but I had always thought of it as being G-rating with possible punching added in. Every day I am shocked at what the media holds up as normal, good, and acceptable. I guess I don’t ā€œwatch enough TV.ā€ Perhaps, I’m becoming a bit of a curmudgeon in my old age 25. Maybe it’s all the Masses I’ve been attending this past week. Is this what righteous anger feels like?

I’m praying that I find a wife who, along with other important qualities, won’t want cable/dish in the house.
I don’t think I’m overreacting, am I??
HAHA! You think that is bad??? Try watching the TV show ā€œGlee.ā€ You name the perversion and Glee has it. The most recent episode featured most of the HS kids in it all going into their hotel rooms to do it after their teachers wedding that didn’t happen. Worst part is Glee is on Thursday nights at 8PM.

Go to Nickelodeon’s website. At the bottom there’s a link where you can voice your concern. It only took a moment.

Recently I complained about a man wearing a bra that squirted white liquid. It was an in house ad. They haven’t responded.

TV and films have really gone down hill. It is all about the shock factor. They do all that just to entice young males to become viewers. I was stunned at the song sung on the Academy Awards where all the singer talked about was the actresses who bared their chests.

I thought I was becoming an old fuddy duddy but I am trying to lead a chaste life. I can’t watch people cheating on their spouses, treating each other like trash, and the only thing of value is money.

There are no good inspirational films coming out of Hollywood. Lincoln should have won best picture but Argo got it. It was a good picture but not as mind blowing as Lincoln (was that a pun???) but it was about Hollywood and that is why Argo won.

But I will recommend Jack the Giant Killer. An excellent film with action, good guys, bad guys, self sacrifice, honor and to my only horror the couple are married and even have kids in the end. But that is also part of the Fairy Tale.

Good stories can still be made as long as people will pay to go see them. Don’t see the trash, don’t encourage people to see the trash and maybe Hollywood will wise up.

When I was a boy, if friends joked about kissing another boy, it all made us laugh but there was a real revulsion. We were kids and weren’t trying to hurt anyone. But it was ā€œnaturalā€ to be disgusted at the thought of same sex physical encounters of any kind.
I think the saddest part is deep down most boys DO get disgusted at the though of 2 boys kissing but society will label them homophobic if they express their feelings. So they stuff them and suffer silently

And of coarse there is the double standard where we celebrate 2 girls doing something sexual and call that ā€œliberation.ā€ If a guy is turned off by 2 girls doing something he is labeled gay. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense 🤷

When we had cable (discontinued because over $60/month was too much to pay for things I didn’t want in our house anyhow!), I blocked certain channels, including MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon and Disney. It would seem like a strange combination except the Nick and Disney shows are so DUMB! I seriously should go into business writing TV programs because it obviously does not require talent at all. I have the misfortune sometimes of overhearing Nick shows while at hockey rinks waiting for my kids. Oh my goodness - I had to change the channel once because the show was so annoying. I think it was about a boy named Fred who is incapable of speaking without a whiny yell in his voice. The people chosen for those shows just must be chosen for their inability to act. I’d have to put plenty of other shows in that category, for instance Big Bang Theory. What is with that show? Who actually laughs at any of it, in spite of the almost constant laugh track? I blocked Nick and Disney for the danger to the health of my children’s minds. I did not want them to think that such drivel should be rewarded with their time.
