So scared I have the mark of the beast

I believe we are going through the tribulation period, I have been away from the faith until last month or two. So scared I have been given the mark of the beast as I have been such a sinner, does anyone else feel this way?

Revelation uses symbolic language. More and more Christians are interpreting Revelation as being “mostly fulfilled,” while a few end things need to happen. The tribulation period probably already happened within this view. If you were given the mark of the beast, it is idolatry with foreign gods (“fornication,” symbolically). You would know you are not following Jesus Christ.

I believe that Nero was the primary antichrist. It makes sense because in Aramaic through Greek, his name does come out to be 666. He was also the worst persecutor of Christians at the time Revelation was written (many scholars suggest it would have been written earlier than what was once thought, 90-95 AD).

The mark of the beast may very well be a libellus, a document given to Roman citizens who sacrificed to the gods (this was a way to weed out Christians, but Jews were exempt): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libellus

Summary: I think that you’re needlessly worrying. Keep praying, do good works in love, and have faith in Jesus Christ above all else. Revelation is not a straightforward book: we cannot interpret it easily.

Welcome to my world since april, living in constant fear, and this fear is crippling and pushing me towards sin in order to stop thinking about this topic for a few minutes, but I know it is hard to go by, but a priest told me to stop visiting these sites because, despite what they claim, they are not Christian.
 
The mark of the beast isn’t something you get by mistake. It’s something that is preceded by signs and angelic warnings.

If you have to wonder, you don’t have it.

It is a trick of the devil to use the sins he tempted us into against after we have fallen. I treat these times as I do temptation (as it is a temptation to despair and/or leaving Christ).

Christ wants to “make you new,” as all things are made new in Christ. I find that once I recognize what is happening, if I pray, it will go away. I just pray the Our Father, the Hail Mary, and the St Michael prayer asking for help, Incuding one’s guardian angel and patron saint(s) helps too, as does thanking God for His mercy in forgiving me.

This has always dissipated my problem thoughts, tho I have to repeat the process for a time. Then what happens is that other temptations, some quite subtle, crop up.

If you have a good priest you can stay close to at this time, do that, and go to Confession as close to every week as you can: this was very helpful to me. The graces from confessing even just venial sins helps a lot!
 
From my perspective if you’re worried about it you don’t have it. God’s planted a seed of faith within you that is beginning to bloom. Give that worry to God - He’ll take care of it for you. We all go through times in our lives where we “fall off the spiritual wagon” so to speak but God is there to catch us. Have you ever heard the song "Touch of the Master’s Hand?

My interpretation: 🙂

Mark of the beast = mortal sin. Those who die unrepentant and end up in Hell.

Confession = return to a state of sanctifying grace.
All who strive to stay on Jesus path to Heaven.

Go to confession and be at peace with the Lord.
 
What do you think you have that would be considered the Mark of the Beast?
 
The mark of the beast is a number or name on your hand or forehead, according to the Bible.

This has been the Fear for perhaps 2000. Years,
Just remember,look not on your sins but on the Faith of your Church,🙂
 
Having been a sinner and then repenting is not the mark of the beast. Think of St Paul, St Mary Magdalene, and other repentant sinners. Read in the Bible how Jesus treated them 🙂 have confidence! Just think of God and spend time with Him.
 
Like others have said, someone cannot just give you the mark without you knowing about it, thats the point, you must accept it willingly.

However whatever the mark turns out to be, It will definitely be disguised as something else, more than likely, it will be very appealing to most people and probably appear to be harmless. I think it will be similar to a social security number system, everyone will have to ‘register’ and accept it.

How can God hold a person responsible for accepting the mark of the beast, if they didn’t know that they were rejecting God? :confused:

I believe it will be very clear what you are doing.
 
Having the mark of the beast will be something that people choose to have with full knowledge.

No accidents.

Why would anyone in their right mind accept the mark if they knew it meant eternal damnation for their soul?

I was led to believe the mark was going to come under disguise of ‘something else’, kind of like how the AC is going to come to power, he is not going to announce himself to be the AC, instead he will try to fool people, try to pass himself off as the messiah, only the faithful will be able to see it though…same thing with the mark, probably only the faithful will actually be able to see what the mark truly is, everyone else will just happily accept it as Im sure the reasons for accepting will be quite good and convincing.

People may be afraid not to accept the Mark because they will be without food or killed for being Christian.

I do think that the anti-Christ would try to disguise himself.

That being said, the mark is definitely not having been a sinner and then repenting. I think that’s what the OP was referring to and just trying to set their mind at rest 🙂

Yes, they will make it very hard on those that refuse to accept it, but this is no reason to go ahead and accept it. Jesus warned us times would come when christians are arrested, tortured and killed due to his name, he also said they would hate you as they hated me.

I believe many people will accept it just to avoid the punishments if they do not, but I feel sorry for them, because God will not accept that excuse just so your earthly life can continue to be trouble free.
