I don’t think that we have to worry about the mark until the very end times. It will be very obvious that the owner of the name and number will be proclaiming himself to be God, that Christians will not be tricked. It is often said in the Bible that those not following Christ are not worthy of Him. Now, he shows great mercy, but actually putting another human being in God’s place in such an obvious way will not be forgiven. The Apocalypse gives no examples of mercy to those who accept the visible mark. So, even if there are exceptions, Christians living in that time should take it very seriously! I can see a parent doing so to keep his/her children from starving to death before their eyes. But if someone does so to keep his business running, I can see little hope for them. But all people should try to keep from taking that mark. It is an open insult to, and rejection of, God. We should all hope and pray that we are not here in hose times!
