My pastor mentioned it frequently during his homily. There were three pamphlets put inside this weeks’ bulletin containing information on the local seminary, the seminarians who are going to be ordained this year and ways to help foster new vocations within our community. Also inside the bulletin was a letter from the Bishop speaking about how important it is for us to pray, pray and pray for new vocations and also to pray for our priests that they may be shining examples of the call to the priesthood. There were large posters on the wall beside the doors into the nave promoting new vocations and at the bottom of the posters were pictures of the seminarians ready for ordination. Oh yes, part of today’s collection was in support of the local seminary.
I guess pretty well everyone in my parish was made very aware that today was the World Day of Prayer for Vocations.
 
We said a prayer during Mass, and Monsignor talked about it before Mass started.
 
At my parish, the second collection was for the annual seminarian collection for our diocese. All my pastor did (who is pastor of two other parishes) mention was the tuiton for one seminarian was around $35,000 for one year.

Friday night into Saturday morning a group of teens from the area had an “adore-a-thon” for vocations for the priesthood and religous at my parish. It started with mass Friday night at 7pm (the parish had adoration after mass until 10pm but the kids had the adore-a-thon all night with benediction ending Saturday morning at 7am). The idea was for them to pray to God for vocations and what type of vocation they might have.
 
Yes, it was talked about today in mass and we also prayed about it:)
 
I went to Mass in two different parishes. On Saturday, the priest preached about vocations in the homily and we had a petition in the prayers of the faithful.

On Sunday, in the other parish, it was mentioned in the homily and there was a petition, and there was a collection for the education of seminarians.

My pastor gave his homily about it. He stressed the importance of prayer for priestly vocations, and gave examples of how prayer has worked in increasing vocations is some dioceses. He also talked about how we need to invite non-Catholics to Mass and it is through acts like this that vocations are sometimes found. He gave some examples from his own experiences.
 
Yesterday’s homily was on the subject of vocations, and the parish newsletter contained a letter from the bishop on the subject.
