So what about overpopulation?

If you walk into a store and go to the produce section, most of what you see will be thrown out due to spoilage. If you go to the deli section where the ready made sandwiches are about a third of them will be thrown out at the end of the day. Last year I saw potatoes go up to almost $6 dollars a bag and no one was buying due to the price (sad as it is a staple food for my family) I asked one of the workers what they were going to do with all the potatoes they were not selling, his answer “throw it out when it spoils”.

Stores are inteligent they make sure that it is not just thrown out but rendered inedible when they do. They do this to keep the homeless from going through the garbage and possibly getting sick and sueing them.

With the amount of waste going on I find it somewhat unbelievable that someone would say that there isn’t enough food. I find it beyond incredible that anyone goes to bed hungry when we have food spoiling on the shelves. As for overpopulation the only reason we are at replacement levels is immigration. The problem is not are we overpopulated but is our standard of living we feel we are entitled to sustainable?
