So what should we personally do about parent/child separation?

I don’t have an article to link to this, but it seems like everybody is unhappy with the current situation of parents being detained and children being put places.

How about if instead of arguing about it here, we each decide to make 2 phone calls, one to the White House and one to one of our representatives, and also get another person to do the same.

I think we can all get behind this idea, whatever our ideas may be about what should be done.

It doesn’t really make any sense to just argue here about what is happening and whether it’s right or wrong or not so bad altho I personally am opposed and wouldn’t do it but…

I think if we were to look up the numbers for our representatives and write them down, we could easily get at least one other person to call.

Here is the phone number for the White House:
202-456-1111
202-456-6213 << TTY

Here is the address for the White House:
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500

A link with a small amount of I do about writing a letter, from which I got the info above: Write or Call the White House | The White House

If I have created the poll below correctly, we should be able to mark it according to 1 (I will do this) and then add how many people we will ask to also do it. Remember to have the phone numbers handy to give them!

I’m not calling anyone. This is a a matter for The United Nations.

I’ve suggested several solutions:
  • Sanction Refugee Countries
  • Military Action Against Cartels
  • Safe Zone in Mexico
  • UN Coalition

Earlier today I contacted both my senators and my congressman.

I will call; my husband will call. I’ll also give the numbers to my neighbors who feel as I do that the treatment of these children is shameful. Thank you.

whatever the whole story is, which we may or may not ever find out, I think that getting the representatives and senators moving on immigration would be great. They want to put it off til after the midterms.

I figure even if we disagree, which the many threads and many, many posts show, we all agree on the fact that something needs to be done, that our immigration laws need to be changed.

I think we should insist that parents with children obtain both passports and visas before entering the USA.

No, that’s too straight forward and normal. We must have an annual crisis over this!

Exactly.I keep mentioning that point as well.Crickets other than calling me deplorable. Per usual the media is putting their spin on this situation and if one only gets their information from the mainstream outlets,of course this looks horrendous. More to it than meets the eye. Do your research people.

Agree. What a concept!Actually go through the correct processes’ to enter into our country. Yet emotions and selective optics by the media rule the situation

Joyful_Song:
It is a grave sin plain and simple.
It’s a grave sin to leave them with their parents,
that’s why the 9th district ruled against it in 97.
I don’t look to the district courts for advice on what is sin. I look to the Church and our religious leaders. Now if you can find a bishop, priest, or even a deacon who says it is a sin to let good families keep their children…
