So when is Lent OFFICIALLY over?

I have always heard Lent goes on until 12am Easter Sunday, or I’ve heard 12noon Holy Saturday. Which is it? Needing a beer bad.

Since the whole “giving up [thing] for Lent” is a purely private devotion, I think it’s up to you as to when you want to break your Lenten fast. For me, it’s after the Easter Vigil Mass.

For those of us that follow the Traditional Mass and its regs, the Fast is over after the Vigil Mass on Holy Saturday, providing your parish finishes that Mass after midnight (12 am of april 1st)

I have no clue as to what is done if you follow the OF Mass.

That doesn’t necessarily mean you should spend Thursday night on Minecraft until your brain melts.

Lent is officially over, as I’ve been instructed, just as the Mass on Holy Thursday begins.

Not quite. Lent ends with the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper, at which point the Triduum begins, and that is on Thursday evening. Thursday morning is still Lent.

I for one will start sling-shotting angry birds at bad piggies sometime after Easter morning. I always felt Easter morning breakfast was the end of the fasting after all of lent, good friday and holy saturday.

So far, yes - I’ve been dispensing on Sundays, and watching some YouTube videos to make plans for the Eastertime build fest
