I believe Scripture clearly teaches monergism (that’s why I’m a Calvinist, not an Arminian)
Wait a minuite… No!The bible itself is a tradition, since it has been handed on to us. Bible alone is most certainly a tradition of men, since the Church did not promulgate it. This seems to be conveniently swept under the rug when tradition is spoken of.
I think he was saying that Sola Scriptura (Bible alone) is a “tradition of men”, not the Scriptures themselves. I hope we would all agree that the Scriptures are God-breathed (which, I would think, would be contrary to any man made tradition). The Bible is divinely revealed truth. It is the revealed written word of God, the work of the Third Person of the Trinity. There is no way the Bible is a “Tradtion of men.”
A must read on Sacred Tradition is the book Tradition and the Church (1928) by Monsignor George Agius. This book is really indepth but easy and fun to read.So I was wondering when they say we refer to traditions what are they referring too? I haven’t found any of the church teachings unbiblical so what are they talking about?

Hi. I am always a little surprised when people talk about tradition without any reference to the how Second Temple Jews regarded it. The vast majority of Jews at the time of Jesus believed in both the oral and the written scripture. It was all tradition.Code:think he was saying that Sola Scriptura (Bible alone) is a "tradition of men", not the Scriptures themselves.
