Dear Lord please hear and answer my prayer. Please help us to be financially okay when I don’t go back to work and for our lifestyle to keep improving. Please help my business to be a success and allow us to be able to provide a good life for our children. Please help me to be a better mother and wife and for me to stop worrying about all of this. Please send me a sign to let me know that I am doing the right thing. Thank you for all that you have blessed me with I am truly grateful. Amen

If you’re starting a small business, it’s good to have several months’ income…like, say, 6 months, for the business to kick in. Most small businesses fail, I think largely for this reason, that people try to do a business on a “shoestring”, as it were, on a wing and a prayer.

However, if you don´t have several months’ income lined up… about 6 months, it might be best to wait till a time you do, so you don’t stress out, fret, and worry about yourself and your family going under.
 
I think it’s helpful to also talk to those in business for themselves, who have made it, and learn from them, as well.

Prayer is wonderful, but it’d be prudent to also research business strategies to help yourself…in addition. “God helps him who helps himself”.

I am not sure if you are misinterpreting what I am saying. I am saying…pray…but take action, in other words.

I’ve known people who pray and say, in so many words, “God…do it for me” and then are disappointed.

God gives us a mind, common sense. We also need to use those.

It’s like a friend of mine, (God rest his soul), used to say, “Trust in God, but TIE your camel”.
 
Did you know, for example, that statistically…50% of small businesses fail…in the first year…and I believe it was 80% fail within the first 5 years?

I am saying…be prudent…seek advice on how not to be one of the 80% which will fail in the first 5 years, to be realistic, to talk to people in business who are part of the 20% which have made it. The odds are against her, probably. Let her get advice.

One piece of advice is NOT to start a business on a shoestring…already, she is praying, worried. She needs to have a financial cushion, a Plan B, in case she is part of the 80%, because it’s also not just herself she is concerned about…but her husband and children.

Let me talk to her without trying to invalidate, suppress what I, or she, is saying. I just don´t want to see her become another statistic.

Let her speak, and let me speak.
 
Really, to me, this is a FINANCIAL issue rather than a religious one.
 
Lastly, I would say to talk to someone in finance. I have a friend who works in finance, would agree, 100%, with everything I’ve said so far.

Are there financial forums, like there are religious forums?

Why not go on one of those, ask some questions on starting up a small business.
