In an episode re-run of Hail Holy Queen series, Dr.Scott Hahn points out that we only offer sacrifice (The Mass) to God, not to Mary. I think he has helped us realize what we are looking at there, when we talk about veneration versus worship and adoration. Way to go, Scott.
It would cost me over $7.50 in gas, not to mention more mileage on my car which is over 130,000 mi. anyway, just to go to the only TLM in our diocese and since I need to assist at Mass (for Sunday Obligation, for my soul and for the Eucharist!) I need to go to an NO. Paying any money I don’t absolutely have to is not an option!
A single woman is “shunned” (angry looks, that is if anyone will speak to you at all) if she wears a head-covering here (I’ve only seen a few mother’s of large families get away with wearing a head-covering here and even then only at a most conservative parish, which is uncommon here.) and I’m not into that kind of mortification.
Otherwise I could fit your description, easily. It seems to make a lot of difference as to your location.
