SoCal Wildfires

We’re at a friends house now. I think we’ll be okay, but then again the Witch fire spread very quickly last night. The scary thing is that the fire is completely surrounding us, so there’s not really many ways to get out. A lot of the freeways are closed. That being said, the area that isn’t on fire is still pretty big, so I think we’ll be okay.

Just so scary! Please continue to keep us in your prayers.

I hope you’ll be OK too. My sister and her family are staying overnight at a friend’s house in Ranch Penasquitos. She thinks they’ll be OK there overnight. She did drive by her house a couple of hours ago and said the neighborhood was still fine.

My mother heard from my brother in Vista CA. His family had to evacuate. Their son already lost his home. We need to pray for all these families.

I just got back from Mass and wanted to let you all know that I prayed for you and will continue to do so! Last night I got a horrible sore throat just out of the blue and it reminded me of what people in the smoke might be feeling like. I’m offering that up for you all.

I’m fine. I guess I haven’t kept up to date. Which fire crossed the county line? I’m guessing the Malibu one, but last I heard it was not so out of control as the one in North San Diego County. I’ve just been worrying about my sister.

Magic fire jumped into our county and was moving quickly SW. But you live on the South side of 101 huh? I just realized it by your posts! Anyway I was worried for you, even if pre-emptive.

Are your kids in school? Mine are, but I heard a lot of the Eastern County schools are closed like Fillmore and Moorpark.

Yes, I am south of the 101. The schools here are all open. My younger kids go to school on the north side of the 101 though, near the hospital. They have had to stay inside all day, which is hard. Today is looking a lot clearer though.

I woke up a couple of times last night, went out on my balcony, and looked across to the Magic fire. In the night’s sky I could see the orange flames, but they are pretty far away. I have every confidence in the Ventura County firefighters though. They really know how to manage these things and let them burn themselves out away from residential areas.

Guess this is one thing I don’t miss about being in SoCal. I hope everyone I know there is alright though.
