Hello Catholics and other peeps,

I’ve often heard that societies will collapse if their people lose faith. We even have God’s people in the OT worshiping idols who eventually receive punishment. I just don’t see that happening in today’s world. Sure Eastern Europe and Russia eventually hit rock bottom but that had largely to do with communism not lack of faith. Even more recent, Western Europe seems to have “outgrown” religion as they have become increasingly secular. I just don’t know if I can agree with that statement today or if time will only tell. What are your thoughts? Thanks for any (name removed by moderator)ut!

This is just my personal experience from the atheists I personally know, and is not a scientific survey in any way, but I think that atheism can lead to depression, uncharitableness, lower self esteem and higher rates of suicide and divorce, and lower levels of marriage. Generally it doesnt work toward a happy society. We are seeing the effects of this trend in western europe. I realise this could be seen as a controversal post 🙂 but is what I have seen in family members first hand.

Just read that there is a temporary ban on evolution/atheism threads  so wish to retract my above comments 🙂

I saw it noted someplace that the root of culture is cult (= belief system). When a society abandons its cult then the basis for its culture is gone and the culture soon collapses. I suspect we are well on our way to proving that.
