👍 Definitely there is an increase of vocations…the Society of Jesus Oregon Province received 9 candidates into the Novitiate this year.

yay Jesuits! I know many have ill feelings towards the SJ, but my experiences have been stellar. 👍

Mine too - excellent teachers 🙂

Unfortunately, it doesn’t go that well in Munich, germany where they also have a novitiate. Sometimes I wonder if the studyrequirements scares candidates away?

it could, its quite intense. But on the flip side, imagine all of the possibilities of educational experiences that ALL Jesuits receive. The Jesuit educational institutions are among the best in the world.

Another goodnews about the Jesuits. The Philippine Jesuit Province has 40 Novices this year …WOW !!! They are TRULY ALIVE and well !!! 👍

That’s awesome! When I was discerning I came extremely close to entereing the order.

Me too. I am a diocesan seminarian, but I was very close to joining them when I was first discerning, but I discerned that my attarction to them was more a sense of respect than an actual vocation.

At the rate things are going in the Phillipines, chances are pretty darn good many US Catholics will be served by a venerable Filipino Father at some point in their lives. It is really gangbusters over there.

I understand the Jesuits are pretty alive and kicking over in the Asian and African provinces. Here in America not so much… I hold out great hope for their revival. The fare that has been offered to the faithful in the province in which I live has been, shall we say, less than traditional. That being said, it is a big order, (biggest in the world!) so experiences vary greatly.

In Singapore…

I think I prefer the cassocks. 🙂
