Sodom and gammorah? Is there extra biblical evidence or is it allegory?

Is there any evidence of Sodom and gammorah or is it all allegorical?
 
It seems that there is, that a city was found near the Salt Sea that had burned and been destroyed. At least in the archeological sense, they found evidence of a great fire. I am really not up on archeology. I am sure a great city fire would be subject to legends, lore and even toss a few allegories into the ashes. Would love to catch u[ on archeology Peace.

Sure, there is extra-biblical evidence for Sodom.

Muhammed includes further narrative about the plight of the cities of the plain in his Koran.
