I am still a little in the dark regarding sola scriptura. Sola scriptura advocates, is it your belief that you have an infallible bible but no one to infallibly interpret the infallible bible, via the guidance of the holy spirit?

yep : just like the Jews (God’s chosen people and the Hebrew Scriptures)

Actually the Bible in inerrant , not infallible; but I know what you meant.

Exactly. They are synonymous in the way I am using it. No one to inerrantly interpret the inerrant bible; got it.

If I am guilty of said straw man then you must believe, as do all sola scriptura advocates, that the answer to the following question is a resounding no:

No, I don’t think either the Bible or the interpreters are infallible.

The apostles were not infallible either yet you trust that they wrote infallibly and infallibly interpreted what they wrote - why?

No, I don’t think that they wrote infallibly, nor do I think we can infallibly interpret what they wrote.

One distinction to be made is the distinction of “being correct” and being “incapable of being incorrect”.

BTW I dunno whether I am a “sola scriptura” advocate or not. I guess it depends on how you define it.

Its not a straw man, because the OP made no hypothesis, It was an open-ended question. Now A straw man might be ( maybe, depending on who is being referred to ) :
" Since you believe in both sola scriptura and the infallibility of the bible, how do you use it without infallible interpreters "

Wow, these are good questions but I’m not sure where this leaves us. Let me ask something else: if there were 12 infallible men, would they all agree? I think they might not.
 
If this were true, everyone writing or speaking “scriptures” from day one had to be infallible.

I disagree.

IF there were 12 infallible men, and understanding what the word infallible means, they would have no other choice but to agree.
 
I guess I must ask what your definition of infallible is. www.m-w.com says it’s being incapable of error. But there’s a lot of area where it’s not a matter of right or wrong, just personal style and preference. Then it’s a matter of misreperesenting something that is a preference as an absolute.

Matthew,Mark,Luke and John all infallible when they wrote,hence they all disagreed?
