Sola Scriptura and Sacred Tradition

Does anyone know of any good books on the whole issue of Sola Scriptura and Sacred Tradition? Thanks and God bless.

And a hearty amen! I’m reading it again for about the 5th time. I’ve been on missionary duty over at CARM and had to brush up on it:p (I’m on furlough right now, that’s why I’m posting here)😃

That is very meritorious of you. I was there for a few days while the forum was down and I could not get myself to stay (as terrible as that is on my part). The biggest problem (aside from having nobody to support me) was that the persons I was interacting with were rejecting the most insignificant and evident of things, even when I quoted well respected, orthodoc, anti-Catholic Protestant experts to support it. I felt that if they could not accept those things, there was little point to making the effort with matters upon which there was actually significance.

That is a great book! I would also recommend a booklet “21 Reasons to Reject Sola Scriptura” (I think that’s the title – not sure who the author is)

Joel Peters wrote that one. Also, I’d highly recommend Robert Sungenis’ book, Not By Scripture Alone: A Catholic Critique of the Protestant Doctrine of Sola Scriptura (Queenship, 1997).

Maybe a shorter version of the version he realeased as a book? I don’t know it was a good read though.

Also I just finished By what Authority and I loved it. I was particulary interested in finding out what Protestants accept based on tradition, I already knew they accept how many books are supposed to be in the bible on tradition.

Also that fact that the author points out with the Seat of Moses comment Jesus used tradition as well, that was really great. Evindently, even though Jesus brought it up, you will not find any reference to the Seat of Moses in the OT. Very interesting.
