There is plenty of hard historical evidence that the Bible was written and compiled by the Catholic Church. This is a historical fact.

How then can our separated brothers and sisters in Christ trust the Bible - the Catholic book - to support their claims regarding Sola Scriptura? This is quite remarkable

I really need to understand this as it boggles the mind!:whacky: :hmmm: :hmmm: :hmmm: :dts:
Its quite easy for those that take the Scriptures seriously. Just compare some of the doctrines of the Catholic church with the Scriptures and you will see. 🤷

Let’s try this with *sola scriptura *and sola fide…nope, not in the Bible…

This is a far more complex issue. Other doctrines in the church are alot clearer in their violations of Scripture.

I repeat - how can you use the Bible which is a Catholic Book to justify your theory of Sola Scriptura? Just answer this one - please:)

Reply: OK, I’ll bite. For example, what doctrine of the RCC?

By the way, are you just looking for an entertaining dabate, or, are you seeking the single truth?

Either is “OK” with me, I just want to know how much effort I need to expend:rolleyes:

It seems that the catechism says something different i.e. you do not need to believe in Christ to be saved. In 847 it says
"This affirmation is not aimed at those who, through no fault of their own, do not know Christ and his Church:

Those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the Gospel of Christ or his Church, but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience - those too may achieve eternal salvation.337

Clearly the catechism is saying something that contradicts the Scriptures.
No, ja4. There is no contradiction. The only contraction lies in your misunderstanding of the scriptures.

Rom 2:14-16
14 When Gentiles, who do not possess the law, do instinctively what the law requires, these, though not having the law, are a law to themselves. 15 They show that what the law requires is written on their hearts, to which their own conscience also bears witness; and their conflicting thoughts will accuse or perhaps excuse them 16 on the day when, according to my gospel, God, through Jesus Christ, will judge the secret thoughts of all.

Those that don’t know Christ are judged on the basis of what has been revealed to them, and their compliance with their own conscience.

Actually, ja4 is not looking for either. He (they) are here to convert all of us into “bible christians” by getting us poor lost Catholics to realize that the Catholic Church teaches “false doctrines”.

Sincere Thanks:D

I thought the bible was “a Catholic Book?”🙂

Only God can enlighten a darkened heart-harded heart. But I’ll keep trying.

The group that uses that login has been a great stimulus to the development of my charity. 😉

Only the Scriptures are inspired-inerrant. They do not derive this authority etc from the church. The church is to be in submission to the Scriptures since they cannot err while the church which is composed of fallen men can. Just because God used the Catholic church to discern the NT canon does not mean the church is above the Scriptures in terms of authority.

How do you come to the conclusion the Catholic Church is above Scripture?

The Marian doctrines and celibate leadership are 2.

The truth.

If a person dies without believing in the gospel message (See I Corinthians 15:1-4) will that person go to heaven?
All relies on whether he Knew the gospel message, rejected it. That means Hell, which is a choice. Mark 16:16. :bible1: ; Catechism #183. If didn’t know the gospel message, Our Lord decides: CCC 847, 848. If he avoided the gospel message, he has rejected it. :highprayer:

Since it circumavents the Scriptures on some of its doctrines and puts the Magesterium and Tradiiton on the same level as the Scriptures.

That’s an odd poisition. considering that Christ established the Church years BEFORE the New testament was written. Using this logic, one must infer that the Church is submissive to the OT only.

What you mean is, some of “it” circumvents your interpretation of Scriptures…which is, in truth, placing you (and your interpretation) above Scripture - using the logic you’ve provided.

The Catholic Church is the only Church Living the Full Bible, as it was intended by God, and written. The Authority of the Catholic Church is from Our Lord God himself, as Often cited. Mathew 16:18-19. Are about 14 more verses, cited elsewhere. :highprayer: :bible1:

This is such an embarassing comment as the other one you or crew wrote earlier. This kind of desperation tells me you need a break for about a month. I may not agree with you but i certainly don’t like to see you embarass yourself with this kind of nonsense. 👍
