Sola Scriptura is Wrong

1 Timothy 3:15 “…the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and bulwark (foundation) of the truth.”

It’s really simple as to why sola scriptura is not correct…ever since the Protestant Reformation, over 20,000 denominations have been founded, all claiming to use the Bible as the one true authority…and all of them contradict each other.

Actually you raise a good point. The fact is that God designed both the church and the Bible for the believer. A Christian can not succeed with the Bible and no church. And vice versa.

But the definition of Sola Scriptura under discussion in no way negates the authority of the church. The issue is whether the church is an interpreter of the Bible that is incapable of being incorrect.

I have examined the claims of the Mormons and am not convinced.

I have examined the claims of the JW and am not convined.

I have examined the claims of the Catholic church and am not convinced.

I have not examined the claims of every self-acclaimed prophet like David Koresh. But I feel confident I would be unconvinced should I do so.

Thus, by default anyway, the only source of faith that I consider unable to be incorrect (even though I am not convinced the word infallible can apply to a document) or inerrant (at least in theology) would be the Bible. Every thing else I have to check out and be convinced about.

Which definition of Sola Scriptura are you convinced that the Scripture you cite and the logic you use negates?

I had to check everything out for myself as well, & can I tell you a secret? I used to be protestant. We can have an interesting conversation, you & me…NOTHING about catholicism allured me. It was everything wrong I found with protestantism, the ways they contradict each other, vs. the unity of the RCC. Jesus is MY source of faith, and is the reason I have faith to begin with. The Word would be His truth for me to learn at my own pace when I can sit down & read it prayerfully, and the Church is there in case I have any questions about what I just read, even if I think something is messed up, I can STILL go up to my priest & say, Father, What the dealy, yo? I have an awesome relationship w. a priest, 2 nuns, and 2 monks, & they are more or less spiritual guides for me. I can tell them what I like & dislike, bot in scripture and church teaching & I always walk away with a clearer mind & a thorough understanding of something I never had an appreciation for because I was too bust buttin heads with it. Think of it this way, 2 years ago, I got onboard the USS Catholicism, & since then, I’ve been looking for leaks. havent found any. There may be some bad eggs, but as the faith, as it stands, I see no holes in it. There were things I didnt understand at first & I was like, what the heck? But after I understood it, the light went on…
