Very much wrong. ALL believers know that the Bible is true. Catholics needs to look at “Did the apostles do what Jesus told them to do?” Sure they did. They broke bread with others, they went into all the world and preached, etc. But they did NOT refer to Mary as their “mother” nor did they preach or teach it.
THAT’S where fallible man wanders away from the straight and narrow path. It’s “narrow” so don’t wander away from it.
What has been written can be a “guide”.

Protestants believe He did not leave a visible Church with authority. They believe that the only authority He left is in the Bible.

Wrong again. If you remember, Luther didn’t disagree with ALL the “traditions” of the RCC, neither do I. But what about the stuff that the current RCC is wrong about? The RCC CAN be proven wrong from Scripture but then it makes up canons and “traditions” to cover itself. It even looks deeper into subjects that it really doesn’t have to.
Again, our objective is to get to Heaven. Jesus showed us the Only Way.
If the RCC does not claim that it is wrong, even in the slightest, then “home” is contaminated and you will die there.

I have a suggestion. This thread has just about run it’s course–the mods will shut it down at 1000. The common theme that I have observed, is that we keep informing Mr Kujo regarding the teachings of the Catholic Church, and he continues to offer his false understandings about what the Catholic Church teaches. In other words, he is not interested in what the Church actually teaches.

I believe he is getting a thrill from attempting to anger the Catholic apologists on this forum. Therefore, I suggest that we do not respond to his gross misunderstandings and false accusations. It will benefit him much more if we all pray for him.

Peace be to all,
Mickey

I agree with Mickey’s post above. I was going to respond to Kujo but it is pointless. He has an obsession with certain things in the RCC and Mary is definetley one of them. The points he throws out have been addressed 100’s of times here and on other threads and he continues to drone on like a broken record. It is getting really tiring kicking this dead horse.

**Therefore let us leave untouched the senseless speculations of the masses and the false doctrines, and turn to the teaching delivered to us in the beginning, let us be temperate and ready for our prayers, persevere in fasting, and fervently implore the All-seeing God not to expose us to temptations, since the Lord has said: ‘The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.’ **

Peace.

As someone who has been following, but not necessarily contributing, to this thread, my concern is that I have absolutely no idea where kujo stands on any issue (except he is NOT pro-Catholic) since the direciton of subjects are frequently changed by him. It just seems that kujo is not open to the exchange of ideas or is capable of staying on task, and I have noticed the great lengths people have traveled to try to educate, inform, enlighten, and explain matters to kujo. These people are to be commended for their generous spirit and love of neighbor in spite of the response they have received continually from kujo.

Peace.

THE EPISTLE OF IGNATIUS TO THE SMYRAEANS

CHAPTER VII.–LET US STAND ALOOF FROM SUCH HERETICS.

They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer, because they confess not the Eucharist to be the flesh of our Saviour Jesus Christ, which suffered for our sins, and which the Father, of His goodness, raised up again. Those, therefore, who speak against this gift of God, incur death in the midst of their disputes. But it were better for them to treat it with respect, that they also might rise again. It is fitting, therefore, that ye should keep aloof from such persons, and not to speak of them either in private or in public, but to give heed to the prophets, and above all, to the Gospel, in which the passion[of Christ] has been revealed to us, and the resurrection has been fully proved. But avoid all divisions, as the beginning of evils.

Peace

**If it is made possible, I intend to come to you in order to see the faithful gathered in Jerusalem, and especially the Mother of Jesus: they say of her that she is honorable, affable, and arouses wonder in all, and all wish to see her. But who would not wish to see the Virgin and to converse with her who bore the true God? …With us she is glorified as the Mother of God and the Virgin full of grace and virtue. They say of her that she is joyful in troubles and persecutions, does not grieve in poverty and want, and not only does not get angry with those who offend her, but does good to them still more… All who see her are delighted. **(St. Ignatius the God bearer)

I recently came across this quote on several Orthodox websites, but I cannot find the date it was written.

“Christian” is a relationship with God. “Catholic” is a religion, man made

.Can you verify that statement with facts? I doubt you can but I urge you to make the best possible attempt. For instance, what man, and when? (I warn you now that you WILL lose this point in our discussion, so be prepared.)

As for religion…can you prove to me from the Word of God that “religion” is a bad thing?

I’ll go first and you can then show us where this passage of God’s word is wrong, ok?

James 1:26 And if any man think himself to be religious, not bridling his tongue, but deceiving his own heart, this man’s religion is vain. 27 Religion clean and undefiled before God and the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation: and to keep one’s self unspotted from this world.

Quite a bit considering the foundation of Protestantism is a fruit of some 16th century guy’s emotional problems and not from God.
This might just be a problem if we blindly followed whatever the guy said, but [post=1408128]we don’t[/post].

We scrutinize.

This is a false dichotomoy. You can’t have one without the other. The first Christians didn’t seem to have a problem being called “Catholic” as this can be traced back to Anno Domini 107.

Please, kujo, would you define “religion” for me?

But where does that scrutiny lead you? Unless you are infallible, you are bound to make errors.

What is the alternative? Give up? Not bother to watch out for false prophets as we were told to do?

Humans err.

Yea. Humans err. But, the Holy Spirit does not. All one has to do is have *faith in the Holy Spirit * and listen to the Church- the one Church that Christ told he would always protect untel the end of time. 🙂

I’ll chip in for a Catechism if I though he would read it.
