Just remember that no where in the bible does it say “Everything you need to know is in here”

I have always wanted to go back in the future to that school that was around the time of Genesis and thank that wonderful Language professor who taught his students how to cite sources and reference. I love how all the books spanning thousands of years were always properly divided into chapters and verses with such consistency. If it were me I would make verses dealing with God end in 777 and those referring to the devil would always end in 666, the Ten Commandments would logically be verses 1, 2, 3 there wouldnt be that notion of “books” (some of them are letters) i would eliminate that because the Bible is a single book, right?

Who was that professor?

EXACTLY! And it even says that not everything was written down – meaning that there are elements of truth and faith not found in the bible.
