I of course know the Catholic church slowly broke away from the teachings of the original church and in those councils approved books not considered scripture by Christ.
Please explain this in more detail.

It is against forum rules to use “Prot”.
Well, I didn’t know. I was just using it because it’s quicker to type, not in derision.

.I am not a Jehovah Witness. I believe everything the Bible teaches about God, Christ, and the Holy Ghost.

You didn’t answer my question. Are you one of those do-it-yourself Christians, or part of a denomination?

Yes, that would be good. I would only ask to add to your request he provide an ounce of evidence Christ asked for anyone to write any scripture down.😉
Since his claim is Christ had declared which scriptures were authentic and which were not.🙂

I don’t want to upset anyone.
But I was looking for the real inventor of sola scripture.
Correct me if I am wrong but when satan was tempting Jesus did he not use scripture we he tempted Jesus to jump from the high ledge?

Also is it not because of sola scripture that Christians have broken into so many groups,
each group claiming sola scripture
as its athority.
satan would love to build thousands of churches, a great apostasy…was it not sola scripture
that was his greatest tool?
Other then nationality and culter which seems to be what separates
Orthodox, Sola scripture seems to be the devils greatest tool.
You make a very good point. That is real “heads-up” observation.
God bless you. Oh, and don’t worry about Agnos…he’s out in left field somewhere with his comment on scripture being " the devils greatest tool".
Your observation show a clarity of mind and soul that is rare for some. Keep up the good thoughts.

Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum.

I am a former atheist saved by the grace of
God. I do not belong to a denomination. Denomination is not in the Bible

If you mean the incarnate Christ, then none of the New Testament could be considered Scripture could it? 😃

Amen! I totally agree! Divisions and denominationalism are not in the Bible. But they are the hallmark of Protestantism. The Catholic Church is the clear answer to this, as there is only one true Church by the Roman Catholic line of thought.

So you don’t attend church?

At any rate, Rightlydivide, I’m sorry if I’ve been too confrontational. I get carried away sometimes, but I don’t mean anything personal. I’m very happy to know that you’ve converted to Christianity (even if it is a somewhat diluted form) from atheism. I’m glad to call you a fellow-Christian.

The Catholic church could not keep things together.

By the way, you should not use “Roman” Catholic either. Catholics around here dont like that. Yes, I know you think you are the one true church.

Of course I go to church

And you as well.
Blessings to you and your family.

I guess I was just born yesterday so please explain this one to me also, patiently waiting:rolleyes:

Well, as far as I know, they’ve kept themselves together for 2,000 years, despite “reformers” and schismatics leaving 'em.

As for the “Roman” aspect, I will continue to use it, because I consider any church with Apostolic Succession as Catholic. Therefore, I consider Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, Mar Thoma, and some parts of the Anglican Communion with valid Holy Orders to be a part of Catholicism, and therefore (Although they deny it) an implicit part of the Roman Catholic Church via Apostolic Succession.

And the Church you go to… is it independent or what? Not being nosy, just trying to see where you’re coming from.

Obviously, gnostic and is such a secret were not allowed to know.
Gnosticism is not scriptural. I follow the Bible. Why would I give out the name of my church? Don’t you guys read the newspapers?

I like your reasoning about the Roman part and that makes sense.
My church is just a church. We do not belong to a denomination. The church was started by a former atheist

Catholics splitting from Catholics and forming new Catholic groups.
There is only One Holy, Catholic, and Apostlic Church. Any group splitting is just another form of protestantism regardless of whatever they name themselves.

May God bless and protect us,
JLC

I’m just curious, is it a house Church? A loosely connected small body of believers praying together and working in each others lives out of Christian love?
