I am not sure where your going with the beast.

However sola scriptura sounds like a plot from the devil. you will know a tree by its fruits…sola scriptura broke christians away from the Universal church. It also caused great disunity among those deciding to break away spliting them into thosands of groups. If the devil wants to devide and conquer then sola scriptura was the tool.
I could use sola scriptura to start my own church right now in my home.

Sola scriptura CANOT be from God.It is from man or from satan.

I am very sorry to say this, but Excalibur- the Jw’s are not sola scriptura.

However, they should not be discussed on this thread. The posters who would like to contribute to JW related threads will not think to look here to post because of the title of the thread!

How about putting up a new thread on the topic so everyone can post on that topic?

Just a humble suggestion Excalibur.🙂

If you will show me how JW are not sola scriptura then I will gladly change my statement.

Sycarl told me the definition of sola scriptura, and jw meet that standard. Jw will claim that bible and ofcourse God is there only athority.
I can’t correct myself until I see where I am wrong.

Again knowone in the organization claims to be infalible or inspired. Jw say the bible is inspired and they claim to follow the bible and bible alone closer then anyone else.

Is that not sola scriptura ?

Thankyou for looking that up I appreciate your time.

You don’t have to look up old watchtowers. Please just give me the name of the inspired person.

As far as I know knowone in the history of the watchtower has EVER had a vision or spoke to God in anyway…There has never been an infalible person…I know I worked at Bethel, I saw Govrning body members…they are not inspired and you don’t get much higher.
Or do you think the 144000 are inspierd…they are not eather.

In plain english…who is inspired OTHER then the bible?

…Call any kingdom hall ask to speak to one of there elders, and he will show you from the bible of your choice where Jw doctrine is…or there interpretation.

Be prepared jw know thre way around the bible. As a whole this group knows there way around the bible better then most denominations. You will find that groups as different as your church and JW both claim the bible as there athority.

Who has confused us…its not God
…its not the bible…Its sola scriptura.

I think sola scriptura is from satan.
I think Sola Scriptura is a man-made doctrine, but regardless, not a divine one. You have to remember that JWs have their own mistranslation they use, and it really can’t even be called a Bible in my opinion. So they derive their misguided views from their own perverted mistranslation of the Bible. Even non-religious scholars agree that they stretched the text to support their own claims.

Jesus said: “These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” (Luke 24:44)
This is your answer to where did Jesus denounce the Deuterocanon. Aside from Jesus making no mention of a canon, nor the Deutercanonical books here, there are several things specious about that conclusion. I will present one.

Using the interpretation that Jesus was telling us which books are in the Old Testament in Luke 24:44 consider this:
The most common Protestant OT contains the Law (5 books), the prophetic books (18 books), and the Psalms (1 book). Even if you put the historical books along with the Law, what happens to the wisdom books: Job, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, or Song of Songs?

Good point. I’ll remember that one for my Dad (i.e., the Anti-Catholic, Mary-demoting, Deuterocanonical-book-bashing, Pope-detesting Fundamentalist-- Got to love him though! 🙂 )

Sola scriptura…the athority that people claim using the bible to mislead people is from satan.
But that’s not what "sola Scriptura’s about. Such “authority” is claimed by many church leaders totally apart from the Scriptures - and people blindly follow them. Sola Scriptura views the Scriptures as having final authority, not men. You’re accusing the wrong source.

Regards,
MD

I agree that the Jw bible adds and takes away things they should not.

But must you have a good translation to be sola scriptura ?

How can the bible be the final athority? It dose not explain itself?
It is the PERSON that interprets it
that ends up being the athority.

His rationale is that since Satan used Scripture to to tempt Jesus, Satan then invented “sola Scriptura.” Do you also believe that’s a correct conclusion? Do you believe, then, that all Protestants who adhere to the idea of “sola Scriptura” are Satanic or Satanically deceived?
Sola Scriptura is an erroneous doctrine and is contrary to the teachings of the Church founded by Christ. Because of that, it is safe to posit that this doctrine is inspired by Satan. Further, those who adhere to this teaching, it is safe to say, are deceived by Satan.

Just my two cents.

What does angelic direction mean? Who are Jehovah’s representatives or deputies invisible to men?

WBTS Not inspired Exclusively by Jehovah’s holy spirit to understand the bible?
“He [God} does not impart his holy spirit and an understanding and appreciation of his Word apart from his visible organization”
The Watchtower July 1 1965 p 391

“We all need help to understand the Bible, and we cannot find the Scriptural guidance we need outside the ‘faithful and discreet slave’ organization”
The Watchtower February 15 1981

There is more where that came from
"Visible human creatures had to do with that message, yet. In fact, it was a message of the Lord sent through his holy angels, because without a doubt these are clothed with authority to direct the course of earthly members of God’s organization.
Light Vol I 1930 P106

How do they direct the course of earthly members without INSPIRING them?
Or do you think the 144000 are inspierd…they are not eather.
I do not think any such thing. :tsktsk:
The question is: what do they think?
In plain english…who is inspired OTHER then the bible?
Read above.

“The world is full of Bibles, which Book contains the commandments of God. Why, then, do the people not know which way to go? Because they do not also have the teaching or law of the mother, which is light…God has not arranged for that Word to speak independently or to shine forth life-giving truths by itself. … It is through his organization the God provides this light that the proverb says is the teaching law of the mother…we must recognize not only Jehovah God as our Father, but his organization as our mother.”

The Watchtower May 1 1957 page 274

Too bad mommy did not come to the world until about nearly a hundred years ago.

Who interprets when you get disfellowshiped? The bible or them? Who is the final authority then?

First of all, you must prove it (sola scriptura) to be definitely false (which I doubt you can do).

And even if it were to be be false, you still must prove it to be inspired by satan (not everything false is satanic).

And even if it were to be inspired by satan, you still must prove it to be satan’s greatest tool.

w_stewart

You took the words right out of my mouth. well said.

I see watchtower stuff is being quoted…that’s cool, but I thought Lutherans who are sola scriptura
also thought angels would protect and help them.

I am trying to understand your point. Jw’s think they are the true church so ofcourse they think they have angelic help. If the help of the angels or the help of the Holy Spirit himself means you are not sola scriptura…then that means the early christians were not sola scriptura because they had such help from heaven. So if the early church was NOT sola scriptura…And Jesus said that The Holy Spirit would teach us.

Then where did sola scriptura come from? That leaves man or satan.
And satan was the first to use scripture to confuse and mislead someone…example is the temptation of Jesus. So its logical that satan has also usd it to confuse all christianity today.

Think about it…with out sola scriptura, people would not feel they could break away from the church. That leaves two churches
east and west which is much less confusing then thousands of different churches…IMHO.

And east and west is not realy two churches, they were one…but one of the two must be teaching herasy right now.

As far as the greatest tool…well with the primacy issue the church was split in half…but with sola scriptura christianity was split in thousands of pieces. If sola scriptura is not the devils favorite tool it must be his second or third favorite.

Well, I live in Bible Church Land and I am telling you what, the people who lead those churches try to bind others’ consciences to THEIR INTERPRETATION of the Bible…and they shun people in their church who have honest disagreements…and they criticize other Bible Churches that don’t teach the same things they do…so even without any claims to “infallible organizations” (Catholic or JW flavor), they are acting like they are an infallible organization and in reality there is NO SUCH THING as sola scriptura because a person’s radically subjective interpretation always enters into it.

Exactly you are correct. Jw’s started out as bible students if that is not sola scriptura, it must be close. They ended up changing there name…making false prdictions…and knocking on peoples door wakeing everyone up to tell them thy must leave there church and join there crazy group.

That is not Gods will…for people to pick up a bible and go full speed in the wrong direction.
satan probably gets a chuckle out of it though.

1.1 Tim 3:15 and Mt 18:15-18 quite clearly point out that there will be discrepencies on how to intrepret the Bible, so you go to the Church, yeah that would be the one Christ founded on Peter.

As for questions 2&3, well all I can give is my opinion, which is you would have to look at every individual on a case by case basis probably some satan has used it as a tool, as far as it being his #1 tool, come on I’m not even going to take a guess at that.

First of all, you must prove it (sola scriptura) to be definitely false (which I doubt you can do).
It’s easy to prove it false; it’s self-reputiating, especially since the Bible contains no list of books of which it is made.
And even if it were to be be false, you still must prove it to be inspired by satan (not everything false is satanic).
Well, I believe it may originally have been Satan’s idea, but I usually call it a man-made doctrine, because that’s not nearly as incindiary.
And even if it were to be inspired by satan, you still must prove it to be satan’s greatest tool.
Look around; 30,000 “denominations” and counting. One division after another (Which is condemned by Christ and St.Paul). Mass confusion about issues such as abortion, contraception, gay-marriage, etc., etc, all because the Church and the various Christian communities no longer have a unified voice, just a loud, incoherent babble of voices.
