Solemn Blessing at Christmas Mass

The Solemn Blessing is a (rather nice IMHO) part of the christmas liturgy but doesn’t seem to get used all that often - or at least it wasn’t this year in my parish. Just wondering what others’ experiences were? Hint: for the uninitiated, the Solemn Blessing at the end of mass is the one that has “Amen” said several times during it.
 
We’ve had solemn blessings not only for Christmas but all through Advent as well.
 
It’s funny because I was reading the solemn blessing in the Roman Missal before the Vigil Mass on Thursday, and I thought that it was very beautiful. The priest didn’t use it, however.
 
I think it may have been used for either the Vigil or Midnight Mass, but not at the 9am Mass on Christmas Day although the thurible was at the front of the altar.

Not sure what the location of the thurible has to do with the use of the Solemn Blessing.
 
We had the solemn blessing at the end of Mass.
In regards to the discussion of the thurible, I wonder if the poster is referring to incensing those assisting at Mass as part of the offering of the gifts. The altar server faces the laity and bows. They also bow and are then incensed. The altar server and laity then bow again.
At our Mass, incense was used in this way.
It is not the solemn blessing referred to in the O.P, but it is a special gesture which is not done at every Mass at this parish.

We do this every Sunday.
 
We don’t usually use Solemn Blessings in my home parish, however I find the Christmas blessing especially beautiful so suggested it should be used this year, we had it at the end of the Midnight Mass, but no one seemed to say Amen at the end of each petition, probably due to it being the first time we have used on for a number of years.
 
Nope. Our 2 Priests at my local parish rarely use the optional Blessing. My last parish the Priest always did.
 
We had the regular blessing at the Traditional Latin Mass I went to on Christmas day.
 
The Roman Missal says that a solemn blessing “may be used” at all Masses for the Feast of the Nativity.

One of our priests instituted a wonderful way to do it. He says the closing prayer, then gives the pyx’s to the ministers to the homebound giving each one a blessing, and then comes back to the chair for the solemn blessing for everyone else. This is what he did for Mass at Night on Christmas.
