I finally got to go to one of those Extra Ordinary Form Mass types today. It was very beautifully done, reverent and respectful. For those who don’t know, its like a Missa Cantata / High Mass but there is a lot more like a priest / deacon / subdeacon plus many altar servers, incense, and the Asperges Me. I hope to be able to go to one again someday as it was a moving experience for me.

Glad is was moving for you.

Have you only attended low masses before this?

I’ve gone mainly to Low Masses, but have been able to attend a few High Masses / Missa Cantatas. I’ve been raised in the Ordinary Form of the Mass as I was born after Vatican II, but started to go some to the EF Masses in the past few months.

Today, we had a beautiful sung mass. The polyphonic music was so soul-stirring, I wanted to literally prostrate face down, body totally stretched out before the altar.

I settled for a low bow over the pew in front of me. :o

I am very happy for you. The Solemn High Mass is a magnificent way to praise our God.

Its been several months since I’ve been to one. (last Easter to be exact) We spent the whole Triduum in Seattle. Four days of fantastic liturgy. I was a liturgical emotional mess.

It was great.

I’ve not had the chance to go to a High Mass for a Holy Day yet, but hope to someday.
