Yes. Just learnt that the Gradual can replace the Psalm or something along those lines. It’s 9:30 here in the UK a blessed Christmas to you all.

Just turned it on…I have to say the Holy Father is looking quite tired, though probably better than I would have expected, considering some of the news stories that have been floating around.

Still, it does seem fair that some have speculated His Holiness might indeed elect for retirement at some point in the future.

Oh, let’s not even go to that ridiculous canard. We went through it for years with Blessed John Paul II. Forget the speculators; this Pope, who looks way better at this age than his blessed predecessor, will not be retiring any more than than did the one before.

Hey, I’m just saying what I’ve read…don’t shoot the messenger.

I wish this Pope, and all faithful, many happy and healthy years beyond what they currently have.

and the Holy Father, based on his own recognition of his abilities, will do, I’m sure, what he views best for the Church.

I’m not looking to hasten him out of the Papal Apartments in any way…

Then be discreet and refrain from “saying what you’ve read.” I’ve read much nonsense, too, but I don’t go around repeating it. If you truly wish the Holy Father well, then be prudent and act like you want to see him on the Chair of Peter for years to come.

😃 Yes! The Gradual (or Tract, as season permits) can always replace the Responsorial Psalm. I wish it was always used because I’d rather hear something sung there always and I don’t remember the response half the time.

Anyways, the mass is gorgeous, especially those vestments although I wish the Holy Father would wear a Roman chasuble sometime :/. The Gloria sounded fantastic.

And as to the Holy Father’s health and whatnot, pawh. Pope John Paul II looked infinitely more infirm up until a few years before his death than Pope Benedict XVI looks right now, even a year older than the previous pope at his death.

If his mind is fine then there should be no issue here. We don’t need the Holy Father running obsticle courses or anything. . . . .

But he is wearing a Dalmatic under his Chasuble, don’t see that too often!

I liked The Holy Fathers remark on how upon the Stable in which Christ was born, where animals fed is now placed an Altar from which we receive the flesh of Christ.

The remark on the door of the Church of The Nativity was also very wise.

As did Credo III. Anyone notice they all genuflected/knelt during the “Et incarnatus est…Et homo factus est”?

No, I didn’t because I’m half cooking for tomorrow and half watching, which means I’m moving from room to room. Awesome!

Thanks for posting the link by the way. 👍

I don’t want to start anything and I know this is a very, special, fancy, solemn mass, but I wish most of our masses resembled, even a little bit, this mass. I feel almost close to tears.

Actually, that is the specific rubric in the OF for the Credo on Christmas, in every Roman Missal. If a parish doesn’t do it, they’re doing it wrong. 🙂

Oh my goodness. I just realized I put Pope Benedict the VI instead of the XVI.:o
